Thread: Plinka -- did they stealth-change the population levels?

The Advanced Guide to Player Cities that Thunderheart proudly announced includes these numbers:

Outpost - Population 10

Village - Population 20

Township - Population 35

City - Population 55

Metropolis - Population 85

Outdated information? Just plain inaccurate? Stealth stab in the back? Inquiring minds probably want to know.

Why would it be a stab in the back?

It would be a figurative stab in the back if a City suddenly lost its Town Hall next week because they had 8 citizens and didn't know the "new" minimum was 10 ...

If they had relied on the accuracy of theinformation Plinka worked so hard to get to us before thePRC publish ...

Now maybe Plinka has been unavailable, or TH found out about this at the last minute and couldn't get in touch with her, or any number of other possibilities ... but considering how many times they just haven't thought about the consequences of their actions, and have failed to follow their own announced "processes" for distributing information, it wouldn't surprise me if this was just another case of fumbling ...

TH changed it for the better. Outposts don't count against the city caps anymore, but you do need to have five more people in them. I would expect any politician to at least check these boards once with how new the profession is. And if not, it would show up in the status that they don't have enough to maintain their outpost rank.

Can anyone confirm that it is now 10? My city advancement panel said 5 earlier today...they couldnt change it without a patch could they?

I don't think the change is live yet, but it will be soon. Just speculation.

No, the change is going in early next week, so you have time. It's not a "stealth nerf", its allowing everyone to place a Hall within 3 or 4 days instead of 3 or 4 weeks, but just adding the restriction of making sure you actually have something viable there.I think it sucks for those who placed with 5 people and don't read the boards often, but its going to make a LOT more groups happy in the long run.

There is no need to change the population numbers in order to lift the player cap and allow more cities.

It better just be an error, rather than spineless devs caving into the big guilds.

BT, you know I do think these are better choices for the appropriate "levels" of population, but GEEZ, can these guys stick to the same story for 24 hours at a time? All the way back yesterday Thunderheart made these promises:

The caps will be lifted by the next publish which is currently schedule for the first week in December.

Everyone who worked hard to gather their groups into a city will be able to realize their City Plans at that time.

The caps are temporary as they were always meant to be.

No one will be prevented from making their City Dreams come true.

It took less than 24 hours for all of that to become untrue ... all of it! I mean, do they really expect their customers to read every word on every forum every day to avoid getting completely screwed? Can a decision last a whole week? And where should this news have appeared first? The Politician forum, right? The place people are looking to avoid being blind-sided by this stuff.

They just ... don't ... get it.

No, that's it. It's going to be 10, and I'm sure that's not an error. (And trust me, I RARELY say that about Thunderheart these days.)adding 5 people to the minimum city size is not really caving to anyone, its just cutting down on the number of REALLY tiny cities out there.
