Thread: House Placement around hills
It most certainly is..
I have been able to reclaim alot of lost area in my city...
So when are sidewalks coming out? lol

When we placed ours, we had a spot picked that formally held a medium home. Wouldn't place, even though the only terrain feature was a small ravine and some rocks, which the medium had no problem with. Before it went poof, the City Hall was smack dab in the middle of our former courtyard - an eyesore, frankly. If we could have set it back a bit where that medium used to be, it would have been much more esthetically pleasing (it wasn't a "tight squeeze" medium space, just had a little gully).
Moot point now; but I do remember reading that CH placement would "relax" in relation to terrain.
Yeah, right.
house placing and such did relax some.. but I don't think it was relax that much per se.
City hall footprint is "bigger than PA hall it seems. at least in the corners or something. But I was able to place some building that I wasn't able before.
I think you have to check the "slope" of some area.. some are a little steeper than others ![]()
The relaxed terrain requirements are not quite as robust as I had anticipated. Being cynical of SOE promises I was very careful to pick a spot which could stand alone with the old terrain rules. It kinda crunched my space a little but I had a contingency plan for that event and while not as good it is servicable.
One thing I was wondering about is the Merchant Tents. I do have a fairly broad ravine within the city limits that I had intended to use for statues, fountains, gardensand merchant tents (In the event that I couldn't develop it in another way). As it stands I can put some small houses into it but can't fit any merchant tents there. I don't understand why a merchant tent would have a more stringent terrain requirement than a small house.
Is this as it should be and could this be changed?

The tent "base footprint" is weird.. it is a large plus sign
which can cause some problem (if you were to add the spaces around the footprint to make an even square.. it is as large as a med-large generic home) scary isn't it?
I personally don't know why, if this does take place in such an advanced time and place that we are not able to bulldoze the areas within our cities at the very least. I wouldn't even mind paying a fee for the cost of "leveling" a hill or "filling" a valley to place a house or building there.
Just my $.02
hehe or even better yet (more sink) increase maintence (or citymaint) to laydown foundation!! this will be only good for buildings.. not harvestors of course.
Thus laying down foundation on hilly area would be a good expansion.
