Thread: Player City/Politician Common Problems!
1. People are building in my city without my permission!
- Enable Zoning Rights from the city management terminal
2. I've enabled zoning rights, but now when I try to /grantzoningrights I get told I must be the mayor or a militia member to use!
- /GrantZoningRights only works in the city radius, but you probably guessed that part. A little less self-explanitory is that it only works outside.
3. I got an email saying a house was built in my city, and the resident could declare, but she can't vote and I never got the Citizen Added email!
- His/her house is built on the edge of your city radius. We believe this problem relates to the center of the house vs. where the management terminal lies. You can have them move the house (and wait 24 hours to re-declare) or wait for the radius to expand.
4. How do I let someone else place furniture in City Hall?
- Target the struture management terminal (not the city or voting terminal) and type /setperm admin <playername>
5. I can't place my city hall!
- You aremay betoo close to an existing city, PC or NPC. More likely, your planet has hit its City Cap. The devs are going to relax the city cap this week, but you still might not be able to grow past outpost size on that planet.
6. Is it 10 citizens in 24 hours or 5?
- It was 5, and technically still is. Regardless, get 10. If you don't get 10, you're going to lose your city hall. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but you will lose it. Bribe new players with small houses if you must.
7. XP cap? What's that?
- Honestly, no one knows. All other professions in the game have an XP cap at double the next open box using that type of experience. By this logic, the cap is 2000 XP in week 1. There is a single report from early days of testing of someone gaining 2400 XP in week 1. Was this a test center change done to level politicians faster? Maybe.
8. I can't build structures!
- There are two requirements for every city structure: city rank and skill of the person placing (not always the mayor). Here are some common structure requirements: Cantina - Rank 2, Master Musician/Dancer/Chef (maybe on the Chef); Small Garden - Rank 1, Mayor with Customization 3; Shuttleport - Rank 4, Mayor with Fiscal 2; Clone Center - Rank 3, Mayor with Martial 2; Hospital - Rank 3, Master Doctor/Combat Medic
9. Hmm. So what can I build this week (first week after founding)?
- Houses. Lots and lots of houses.
- Sydira
After doing some waypoint marking, I've figured out that the player city limits are a lot like a shorline. It basically stays the same but the water moves in and out a lot.
I had the same problem on a couple structures.
6. People using "Player Cities" to grief others who have been at a location since the beginning of the game. "Hm....new email......you have been annexed. We don't want your tax money. We just want you to leave. If you don't leave then we will tax you 100% and all of us others will be paid back while you will have your structure cost skyrocket".
7. Player Cities shooting anyone not part of their PA going through their city.
