Politician Archive
Thread: Changes needed to make politician a playable profession.
Politicians shouldn’t have to be members of a player city to run for office. They should however have to take up residence upon winning an election.
Why? Simple, the currant system lets a small group of people put a strangle hold on who can be Mayor of a player city. How? Easy, raise taxes extremely high and give your PA/friends back their taxes, thus forcing anyone out of town that you don’t want there.
Yes, I know many of you want strictly PA towns. I wouldn’t have a problem with that if there wasn’t such strict limits on the number of player cities allowed. But there is, so I do have a problem with it. I was really looking forward to actually playing an active politician. The way it is now there’s no reason to actually play a live politician. All politicians will be run on 2nd and 3rd accounts because there is no real way for there to be a power shift in a player city.
Noncast votes shouldn’t default to the incumbent Mayor.
One election gets a Mayor in and then he stays there forever with no effort simply because the majority of the citizens wontvote. Guess what, in real world elections the majority of citizens don’t vote. Why would the Dev’s think that it would work any different in a game. The majority of player city citizens wont vote and therefor keep the first elected Mayor in office forever.
Question for the Devs.
How is an outsider (one who didn’t start a city) politician supposed to get any exp. with the currant system? If you’re not the Mayor getting all those free votes, or can’t place a house in a city so you can run, just how are you going to get any exp.? Not to mention that if you’re a newb politician no one would vote for you, and rightly so, because if you got elected it would downgrade the city.
