I am a happy, active crafter and merchant. I run a thriving business already near Theed, and I have a great spot there. In fact it's such a nice spot I think I'm spoiled by it, because I want a nice place to live in a player run city too. However I pride myself on being tasteful, fair and honest.. so I'm at a moral crossroads. Would it be bad form to offer money to a mayor to build in an area that has high traffic, a good view, or is next to the site of a future civic structure? I personally would love to have a cute little merchant tent near a bank, or a shop next to a pretty garden.
I know it's early to ask this, as there aren't any banks yet.. and that each mayor is a different individual. But I just want to know how you mayors/politicians would feel being approached with a request like this.

i think it's fair, although i would direct it as a contribution to the city and as a patron of the city, you request your lot.
Not yet completely worked out, but our city is contemplating 'selling' parks/fountains to individuals for a large contribution to the city fund, this would enable them to 'name' the fountain (within reason and taste) that would be placed in the city in perpetuity. Something like "Large Marge, Patron of the City XXXX"
Just an idea being tossed about, but it seems very workable and would generate extra cash for the city.

oh.. and before even offering a donation, why don't you just ask? Many cities would love to have a well known crafter in their city and likely would give lots of leeway in your request.
