Hi all I hop eyou guys can throw some light on a bug Ive been having.

I help run a player city on Farstar and Its my job to place the player buildings in the corect place according to our city plan.

We have a great little mapping tool designed in excel that alows us to see exactly where buildings need to go on the grid according to our city plan.

The player who want a house gives me the deed, I place it according to the plan and then use the /transferstructure <PlayerName> command to transfer teh building to them. We do this so that the buildings go down in excatly the right location.

So far, so what. Well the problem I'm having is the in about 40% of the times when I use the /transferstructure <PlayerName> command I get the following Error. "Target Must be a player".

The player concerned is standing right next to me in the building.

I thought it might be TEF related but it does not seam to be affected by that. Its also not lenght of player names because sometimes it works with a player who's name is short but them will owrk with another player with a short name.

Its not related to age of player because it affect both new and old player alike.

It's not me either because I can transfer it to another player fine and they cannot transfer it to the first player.

Does this happen to any of our mayor's here. It's driving me batty, with over 75 house to place and more people coming in each day I'd realy like to get to the bottom of this.

Any comment would be greatly appreicated

Thanks

Both you and the person should be standing inside the structure to be transferred. Then target the recipient and type "/transferstructure". Works everytime.

Here's what happened. There's some item near you with the same name as the player. The system believes you're trying to transfer to the item. You could easily by-pass this by selecting the player and do a /transferstructure only. If that doesn't work, then track down the item with his name in it.

Place structure, add that person's name to admin (reduce delay time) put 1k maint.. and transfer

works everytime!!

Would I be able to get a copy of your Excel Spreadsheet? I'd like to do that for us, but I'm not very creative and I could use yours as a template. Always wanting new ideas as well.

I could be way wrong on this, but I think you have to have the player your transfering targeted, and that you only need to type /transferstructure without there name in order to transfer the structure.

I was a long time ago that I used that comand and that I think was what was causing my trouble and what I was told to do to make it work right. Anyway hope that helps.

I've had this problem when the person I'm transferring to has been riding a mount. After a few minutes it usually fixes itself, but not always.

They stealth nerfed alot of the / commands.

You can't /wave <name> anymore you have to have them targetted, so likely it's the same type of problem.

Them being on a mount did it for us when we placed the houses, they have to be off a mount and step away from it works best.

The fact the other person was in the house with you is the puzzling bit, but I did run into one of those same problems this morning (we're doing renaming to fit our city design and streetnames - so used the /transfercommand rather than explain it 60+ times), after the third or fourth try it worked. It transferred back to the owner without a hitch.

They didn't 'stealth nerf' targetted commands. This is a bug related to players and mounts.

When someone dismounts, they no longer appear on the overhead map as a little triangle. Concordantly, ergo, vis a vis, you can no longer target them with emotes, or, in this case, the /transferstructure command.

Many thanks for your sugestions guys, I'll try them all.

The excel spreat sheet out city uses was designed by one of our members, I'll ask him if he minds it being used by other city planners.

If he gives the ok I'll post it in this forum.
