Thread: Income tax why is this not based on income?
Please change the income tax to a tax from credits earned from city owned mission terminals. This whole time that is how I thought it worked. Today however I placed the cities mission terminals and find that there is no way to tax this… I had always planed on funding the city this way.
What I propose is to allow a % tax to be placed on mission terminals. Something like this would be preferred:
I take a 5k mission from a city mission terminal for which a city income tax of 10%has been assessed. When I complete the mission I should receive 4500cr, and the city treasury should receive 500cr.
Please show your support for this idea with a simple /agree!
Thanks eldo
If this function was integrated, I as dev wouldrather onlyallow it tied to the "improved job market" Specialization that gives 20% bonus to Missions ... as this is already a financial support it wouldn't hurt to be able to reroute any amount of these 20% to the city.
Seems to me, that a flat tax rate is much more harsh than allowing a tax on a mission terminal. Also I doubt that our missions at 9k for a noob by themself, woudl feel the impact.

Also as the title said, wouldnt ya think an income tax should be based on income, not simply existing. What if I made no money, then paying no tax seems fair. In either case it should be an option!

Well ... just rename "income tax" to "city fee" ... easier for the devs ... and it's what's implemented
But since mission income is far from being your income it doesn't make real sense to me to tie this "income tax" to only the money you make with in-city mission terminals ... this - to me - would be a totally new kind of tax ... reason why I would integrate it with the named specialization

I'm in the same boat with you. I thought for sure there'd be a way to tax the income made off of the missions - the same exact way that they plan on taxxing shuttle trips. That (w)/(sh)ouldn't be too hard to accomplish.

I think this is a great idea. Especially because the income tax in its current state is not automatic! You have to chase people down to make sure they pay. Sure you get an e-mail telling you who doesnt pay.. but then what? Have the militia attack them? Just plain brilliant. A tax on mission terminals would fix this problem completely. But we all know SOE is not about fixing things.
I peronally do not like the idea of having to hire an IRS that has to chase down players who have not paid taxes. It just seems very un Star Wars Like. Everything in this wolr is done by credit. Electronically if you will. WOuld it not make sense that the income tax would be automatically deducted? But here is me being all logical again... BAD RINGE! BAD!
Please make the income tax reflective of the money earned int he city (Which is what an income tax is!). Right now it is a citizen tax at best, and not very fair in a class bassed system =O) If we are taxing crafters by the sales they make, why are we double taxing them for their income? WHy are fighters getting a free ride with a much lower relative tax? Ahhh well, just another great "feature" of SWG.
Right now our City of Midway is the only player city showing on Lok in the Kuari system and our mission terminals are about to overload due to use.

Income tax is not a tax on income it is a "Citizenship Tax" a set fee from 0 cr to 2k cr per week and can be used like guild dues
It used to be called "Citizen Tax" and is STILL refered to as such on a lot of SWG player city info pages. I really think that this tax title should be changed BACK to "Citizen Tax" I spend COUNTLESS time in tells and in guild chat explaning this concept OVER and OVER to people FREAKING OUT about thier bank accounts getting hit for a % each week. This just isn't so.... Please help out the polititians... rename this tax![]()
