Let me begin by saying, I'm mad as hell that my city's potential for growth is being threatened by these new proposed caps on Rank 2 cities. Yeah, we're starting off small but we have no intention of remaining that way forever. I'm working aggressively to recruit more citizens, but because we're not PA-affiliated (like 75% of all cities are) ((and yes I know there are some who aren't, no need to tell me)) we risk being stuck at Rank 1 because we're not going to grow fast enough.

So here's my proposition:

The devs want to make an allowance for all the "little guys" -- fine. The key lies in those people who never INTEND to grow beyond Outpost, and those who DESIRE to grow beyond outpost. For those who never intend (at least not in the near future) to grow beyond Outpost, give them a newer, smaller type of City Hall. For now let's call it the Town Hall.

It's basically the same function as a City Hall but a little bit smaller (let's face it, that building is HUGE) and the building itself cannot upgrade past Rank 1 city. Other than that, it has all the functionality of a City Hall.

This would be for those people who never INTEND to grow past Rank 1. Now to accommodate the changing of their minds down the road, perhaps the Town Hall could have some potential to "upgrade" to a City Hall in the future, or possibly just be destroyed and replaced with a CITY Hall should the time be right.

Again, the key differentiator is those who INTEND to stay small vs. those who intend to grow. _I INTEND TO GROW_ I just need a little bit of time. Don't take away my city from me that I woke up at 4:30AM to place, planned and schemed over for 3 months and waited 5 hours, taking the day off of work to place.

I like the town hall idea.. however i doubt it will be implimented.

But i do most certainly like the town hall idea.

Agreed. If you have 35 players in city... no lets say 45. Rank 4 update... you go back to rank 2? That's not what cities are about Devs want cities ONLY for high member PAs. That must be the truth. We are about 30-40 size, or will be, but it's annoying we NEED to ALL grow within 3-4 weeks and be SAME size? First off, that's boring. Diverse cities are due to SIZE as well as PEOPLE shear NUMBER doesnt = success. Devs want to make PC fun? You get 35 people during rank 3 update. Okay. Rank 4... you stuck at rank 3. Finally get 55 people, need to wait until next update to grow. That DOES seem fair to me... but Devs dont want to make cities fun only really big. Thats the simple truth, and thus less player cities.

I dont think you can really qualify that statement. The logic on it is fairly simple. Require more people to get more items that have a world changing effect. Result: Less cities that drastically alter the map.

Unchecked little 5 person PAs would quickly sprawl their cities accross the maps destroying spawns and crying shuttleport needs to be moved to city level 1 or 2.

That little 5 person PA deserve the opportunity to build a city yes, but not at the risk of degrading every other players performance of the servers. If that little 5 person PA wants a city all you have to do is find another little 5 person PA, and maybe those 3 or 4 stragglers that already live near you, and didnt member Blah Blah have a friend that was pretty cool? It's called politics... yah play the game or you dont get the rewards that come from it. Sorry.

And you know as I reread that now I'm not even really sure what you are saying? "Rank 4 update... you go back to rank 2?" ?!?! Huh?

And I dont think the size really has that much to do with anything. You can make the city as large as you want, just portions of the city wont be considered part of the city until the next rank. You just seem impatient.

I agree, the politician class is definately not for this guy or half the other people that are trying to do it. The growth of cities is slow, the gain of political XP is slow, the stages you have to go through are slow. It is not for those looking for Instant Gratification. If you want that, go be a pistoleer, it is designed for instant gratification.

You know the one thing I like about the Politician class?

You can't grind the XP.

This class was designed for me, sure I had to run to make sure my city hall went down amongst the first, sure we planned it for 3 weeks or more, but now that we have it, I'm more than content to sit back and let things go at their natural pace.
