Proposal: Method to stop (greatly reduce) cross-server vote swapping
Require at least one tier 4 box in a novice profession before you can vote. This would make cross-server swaps much more rare.
that won't make it more rare.. how long does it honestly take to get pistol 1 or engineering 1 or some other tier one box (1000 xp? come on, who CAN'T make that in less than an hour?)
Not trying to flame, but that wouldn't slow x-server players at all. A timer on new players declaring residence might. Any game can 'tag' a persons creation date in their player info, it would be a simple matter of putting in a line of code that will not allow a player to declare residence (and therefore vote) for x amount of time.
Many x-server players would be unwilling to wait out a timer like that if there is no benefit to their own prefered server and player city.
Cross server trading is annoying, but I don't see a good way to limit it that won't hurt everyone else. I think people that do this will have crappy cities. Let them go ahead and doom themselves to ghost towns, added expense of housing they have to support. I think if you cross server swap for the long term you are heading down the road to destroy your own city.
There isn't anything wrong with or even a problem with, cross server trading. The game is already designed against this. Your city does need people, but it needs active people. A ghost town can not pay for itself. You need maintanence on thecity paid as well as thehouse maintanence paid for. You'll get a few cross overs here and there on a small individual basis, but that is it. Anyone trying this on a large scale, even if they had a good amount of money, will find themselves broke rather quickly. This is just not something to be concerned about.
I'd rather see DE fixed before time is wasted on such a small exploit.
Just remove default voting for the incombant, I think that would address some of the problems.
Couple that with a penality for not achieving something like say 25% of the vote would solve the rest.
how are you gonna determine if there is cross-server vote swapping. and even if you did WHY would you want to bar it ?
players cant be restrained in order you to be able to place your city.
