Thread: Referendums-a solution to grief
Well there are a few actions that I believe (:smileysad
mayors get that are...well just shouldnt be decided by one person on a whim. The ability to just destroy a city hall when you win is such an obvious griefing ability, especially with these moronically low caps, that it getting out of TC alive is an amazement to me. So a fix to this and possibly a few other abilities that I don't know of (:smileysad
would be to allow it to go to a vote.
A mail goes out that the town hall is going to be destroyed, you have one week from the "decision" to approve or disapprove of it. There is no apathy vote you have to actually show up and choose yes or no for there to be a vote. Now true if the town was overrun for the election then the same landslide will occur for this right? Well this way at least the residents get a warning and a week to try and counter it.
Since there is a possibility of ghost towns forming thanks to players dropping or just saying screw this lets go over to Coronet 2, this will still allow the hall to be destroyed with no residents. The mayor gets to rob the treasurey and instead of wait for the city hall to eventually deteriorate he votes yea on prop 24 and the hall is summarily destroyed 1 week later. He also knows what time it will so he can give a heads up to friendly politicians without a town, like me (:smileysad
so they can get theirs down asap and not have to wonder if a town has lost yet.
Well that rambled on for a little while.
I think it is cool for people to have to vote for the destruction of the city hall. However, here is one scenario where it could hurt.
You are a nice little rebel outpost with 20 friends. Life is just dandy, you have 2million credits in your city hall, the Empire has never looked you way. Next thing you know there are 50 imperial houses in your city. At the end of the cycle you will lose the city to the Empire. You have 2 choices, destroy your city hall so the Empire does not get it, or simply accept the defeat.
I know there are some people that would rather destroy their city than see it fall into enemy hands. If you have to vote on it, the enemy could keep you from destroying it.
