I would love it, if as a mayor, I had the ability to issue a bounty on another player. This could have some fun rp aspects.Make it a Master Politician skill.

I know there is the potential for griefing, but fortunately, with the elections, there is some check on our powers. Thoughts?

I was thinking that this could be an option on the city terminal. We enter in the player name and amount. The system charges us 5% of the bounty to list. Then it shows up as a mission for bounty hunters.

Sounds like a neat idea. Only thing though, I'd add it somewhere on the politician tree as a skill.

You should get a TEF from the person you put a bounty onas soon asthe mission is taken andthey should get warning of a bounty on them. And obviously it would have to only be declared residents that you can put a bounty on....or anyone that has something built in your town. And you should keep the TEF until the mission is done or aftera set amount of time at which point the mission deletes itself from the BHs inventory. Then you can find out if your militia is really doing it's job.

Just think about it, someone in your town gets bored one day, learns novice politician, runs for mayor. You don't like this so you put a bounty on them. Some BH picks up the mission, and both you and your new political opponent get an email telling you of this, up goes your TEF for the Novice Politician and up goes their TEF for the BH. The Novice Politican comes down to the city hall to see what's up with you doing this (weapon equipped in hand). You happen to be standing in the city hall w/ militia backing you up, the Novice Politician doesn't like your explaination of why you put a bounty on them and shot you, suddenly your milita warns him and starts firing away. Then comes the DB and your political opponent clones away from you in another city. And just when they thought it was over, they get an Eye Shot from behind by a random BH. BH DBs the Novice Politician, you lose some credits, the BH gains some and your political opponent just died twice and had his items decayed away. Now do you think he will reconsider running for election? No, he'll probably just leave town. But hey, wasn't it fun?

I love the idea!

Ithink the ability to place a bounty should be an advanced politician skill (maybe even Master, and in addition to being Mayor) just to avoid any of this casual griefing.

Still, hehe..sounds like the making for some mafia-type politics

I like the TEF idea. Also, how about you can only select citizens OR other mayors

I also agree that this should be a skill granted -- I was actually thinking Master Politician.

Yeah, I agree Master Politician would be good. I also love the idea of being able to do it to otherMayors along w/ your own citizens. I always loved the concept of mutual war between cities just like PA wars. That could be so much fun. Only trouble is finding something to make it worthwhile, especially with decay in the game, it's no longer worth it to die just for some fun as your stuff gets f-ed up no matter what. Don't want to change the post to talk about City Wars but if you could destroy city structures like Shuttleports/Banks/ETC in a mutual city war I think that would be awesome as it would actually make city wars have affects. But you would have to get something for your city in return, perhaps a treasury raid for your city. Back to Politician bounties, haha....

sounds illogical and unneccessary and unfair. why should a mayor could put a bounty but not any citizen who has the money ?

Didn't they originally advertise that anyone with enough money could place a bounty on any other player? I'm assuming this was another advertised feature that never made it past beta, so I seriously doubt they'd add it now.

Orginally, there were going to be player-missions. These were missions created by players. If you failed one of these missions -- then a bounty would be placed on you. These bounties were SUPPOSED to make up a good percentage of the bounty hunter missions -- and one of the reason many players wanted to go the bounty hunter route.

Unfortunately, when they tried out the system in beta -- it was simply too easy to grief. But the game system for this is still in place. Hence the demise of some of our newly force senstive population.

I think by restricting this such that you have to be a mayor AND a master politician AND that once you issue a bounty on ANYONE you now become a legitimate mark for any other mayor with "bounty" powers -- there are enough checks in place for this feature. Anyone you issue a bounty on can always turn around, find a mayor willing to issue a bounty and pay that mayor to have that bounty issued on you.

And why not just anyone -- cause it is still an easily griefable system -- so the population of people with this ability needs to be small. There will probably be fewer master politician mayors than there are jedi. Which is why this feature SHOULDN'T be done if it is a lot of development work. If, however, it is simply enabling existing game systems (like was done with the jedi), then I think this would add a lot to the game.

And honestly, I am looking as forward to being a "mark" as I am to issuing a bounty. Were I to issue a bounty, I would then know going forward, I best have good friends around (who carry good guns).

I know one thing... IfI were putting upbounties, there's areally good chance they're going to be for people that AREN'T my citizens.

I'd only want bounties for people that are either trying to siege grief or dumping harvesters oncity land (and only then if they refuse to remove them after being asked politely to do so). If someone is running against me and I put out a bounty on them, how long do you think I'll remain mayor once elections come up?

I think people are forgetting the most critical aspect of running a placyer city. Public image. Being someone that has his own citizens killed repeatedly is NOT the way to keeping your office. (Unless Dictatorship has become one of the City Hall options. )
