Thread: Let's talk taxes tax guide

I'd like this thread to be an evolving tax guide. What do you all think will be good taxes for each of the 5 city ranks? I assume a good tax total each week will pay for existing structures and have some profit for adding new buildings?

I know one of my burning questions is, what sort of total will the initial outpost with just a city hall need each week, AND how are taxes best split?

Since we don't know the exact costs for things really, maybe we should start by determining what would be a fair amount to tax income, sales, and property?

ALWAYS 1000cr a week. That is nothing but can add up.

Sales tax = very low or 0 encourages business

The rest comes from tickets and land tax i hope... god i hope you can BALANCE a budget. It would be stupid if you cant.

Income tax was bumped to 2k per week, yay, that is what mine will be.
Sales tax - 0% till shuttleport exists
Property tax - Use this to balance the budget, whatever it takes.
Shuttles once we get them, 200 credits, that seems to be normal.

My budget will be balanced, may not even be profitable for the first few weeks but definitely balanced, large donations to the city funds will result in a city structure being named after the doner if they wish.

Trean, so with 5 members paying taxes to the outpost, you would make 10,000 credits. That mean you would need to come up with 40,000 or 90,000 credits in property tax (or your pocket) by your logic.

I would say an outpost should bring in at least 25k/week and that's assuming the mayor or certain members can make donations.

I would put income at 3500 / week to start. Then use property tax to raise perhaps an additional 1500 per resident per week.

This brings in 25,000 / week and that's only half of the minimum amount city halls might cost. It's 1/4 of the theorized 100k/week. Come to think of it, even 5000 credits per member per week is too low.

Sales tax might be around 5% or so, comparable to real life.

Anyone have more ideas?

If you think about it, an outpost with 5 citizens max (which is how every city must begin) MUST raise 50k or 100k in the first week.

Thus, 10-20k per resident per week for the first week at least, unless donations are made.

I'll be using Citizen Taxes to pay for all my maintenace expenses and all the other taxes will be optional extra taxes whose cash goes toward city purchases.

If my people dont want to expand, then I wont charge more from their House/Harv's maint funds.

Alright, my city will be payed for by myself the first week, I have the cash, and it is going to be my city, you don't vote for me that week I am just mayor so here is the taxes run down for the next couple weeks, this should clear up any questions you guys may have had earlier.

Week 2
#citizens: 30(I think we can fit that many in radius)
60k from the 2k max income tax
0 from sales tax(no shuttle yet)
0 from shuttle fees
rest from property tax
say prop tax is 10% then my city with 27 smalls and 3 pa halls can make it into the black with a budget of 72k

Week 3
#citizens 50(yeah we can fit that )
100k from 2k max income tax
0 fromsales
0 from shuttle
rest from property tax
say prop tax is 10% then my city with 47 smalls and 3 pa halls can make it into the black with a budget of 117.5k

Week 4(shuttle week!)
#citizens 60(this might be the growth limit of my city)
120k from 2k max income tax
10k on 1% sales tax (on a meager 1 million credits in sales
35k on shuttles with 200 credit fee and 25 rides sold per day(hehe i myself will ride the shuttle atleast 4 times every time i am on, so this is a low ball)
keeping prop tax at 10% with all smalls except 3 pa halls(still one per person) yields 20k
This low estimation, with low taxes, and low sales, and low rides sold, yields 185k budget per week.

Maximize week 4:
120k on 2k per citizen
264k on 50% prop tax on large houses and 3 halls
175k on 500 credit shuttle fee selling 50 rides a day
1.75 millionon 7% sales tax on 25 million in sales per week
With those astronomical numbers the city budget can rise to 2.3 million credits in week four.

So, after week 3 my city's buget will be somewhere between 180k and 2 million credits, and I will always balance the budget, I am not mayor to be paying out of the pocket.
