Thread: Looking for people to cross server trade!
I am looking to boost my city's residency requirement to 35 by Thursday night. To accomplish this, I need 7 additional declared residents.
I have 4 accounts that I can drop homes with, looking for like minded people that need to get this done and is motivated to get it done quickly.
I am located on the Bloodfin server and will drop homes on a 1 for 1 basis with anyone.
I will supply the house, just need you to declare your residency and give me Admin rights.
Please PM me your interest on these boards and we'll make this happen!
Thank you,
Ren
When the first message like this went up and I had 13 people in my outpost, I considered this myself.. For about 5 minutes. That's when my greed wore off and hard work kicked in. Me and a few pals went to the major cities and the Dant Imp outpost. Shouted out our offer to come live in the city and get a free small house. It was only about an hour before we had 37 with houses placed with 10 more on the way. I know we will have no trouble with getting to 55 for the shuttle port. Mind you, it's not easy to keep em interested when we explain the 5.5Krun/ride they have to get out there, also being imp has limited the people pool to chose from, but plenty are still coming. What we have is real community with real people that are all talking and making friends.
I imagine you rationalize this by saying, "I will get citizens later, I need to grow now" but at what cost? You severly degrade the name of your city and your guild when you do this. Empty inactive homes disgrace your citizens and the Mayor. I hope you reconsider taking this way out and just try doing the job of a Mayor. Get out and talk the people. Rock the vote!
The last thing you want is to finally get your clone up only to have devs put in a way to stop this (ie forced voting) and have you sitting under the population limit with 24 hours to find 7 anyway.
If you can't get real players to join your city then you don't deserve one. Since the Devs put caps on all the planets, if you can't keep up a city then you shouldn't run one because thats the point of them.

A real Mayor that doesn't have to resort to cross server trade to get is population up.
I am hoping that "force voting" goes into effect, or at least that incumbant mayors do not get experience for citizens who do not actually vote. This would help combat ghost citizens. This swapping thing is totally against the spirit of player cities! They are meant for a large number of players to work together in order to have lots of benefits for everyone as well as to have a stronger sense of community. Unless you're planning on marketing to this ghost town theme, I would stick with active players.
Xarxet is a small, tight group of people that have played MMO's together for probably the last 5 years. Learning from GM's we've all experienced in the past, we built Xarxet with strict guidelines and standards. Our recruiting policy does not allow for random inclusion and requires not only an application but extensive 'face to face' game interaction.
It is with that, that we will not compromise our tenets to achieve game driven objectives.
I have been interviewing other small guilds for residency in our town but most are turned off to the 5k run on Rori to get there.
It is because of this 5k run I am looking for 7-8 temporary, empty homes to afford the ability to have a Shuttle Port.
We are not looking to create a ghost town, there is an area we've set aside should either a small group or this scenerio play out.

You're not trying very hard. Our PC is located 8600m from Nym's on Lok. We are also a very small PA and have a smiliarly stringent PA recruiting policy. Our city recruitment is similarly stringent but somehow we have managed to get 35 out there in just 2 weeks. We didn't cheat the system just because we didn't like it. We rose to the challenge. We planned ahead and had people we trusted gathered and ready. Your guild has high ideals indeed.
No, you're not. It takes 55 to get to shuttle port. If you got 7 though, why not 27 I guess. But it IS a ghost town. 27 empty houses in a city of 55! That's almost half. Anyhow, it's clear by now that this town is the private playfield of you and your buddy's. It just stinks for the much larger groups that missed the cap. Perhaps you could sell your spot to a group that wants it and has more. They could give you a nice lot and lifetime drilling rights. They might even keep the current Mayor in office! Another idea is to start accepting random citizens, but don't invite them to theguild. Plenty of people prefer this and are looking for a city right now!

Please don't assume to think you know why I am doing this without understanding who we are as a guild and our goals in this game.

Please reconsider your decision to "ghost up". Sell it, share it, destroy it, whatever to avoid this. But don't do the type of thing that makes others want to quit the game like hogging a cap spot for a group that is not large enough todeserve it.
Most, if not all of the 'popular' planets are filled to include Lok and Dant.
Hm, i had someone in my city offer to bring some friends from bloodfin over just to help city expand.
I refused, my ideas for the cityinclude a Thriving centre of merchants, entertainers, and an active 'Hunting' Population in and around the area.
With the addition of empty houses thats x number of people we have less than we should, I already have a few other accounts which have houses and i felt guilty doing that (but i need the extra storage space for doctor / armoursmith / architect / tailor / weaponsmith / droid engineer / bio engineer supplies)
Basicly it is selfish in my opinion with all those 'city' amenities just for a few people, when there are groups of 60-80 people who were denied a city due to cap's. If you cannot run a city without resorting to these measures, i would give up the city hall and allow someone who is desperate to run a real city have a shot.
This is not really meant to insult someone, nor do i expect any who are in that position to follow my views, it is merely my opinion.
I absolutely agree. There is no easy way to avoid cross-pollenation to Ghost Cities other than people taking up a moral stand not to participate in such an activity.
Forced voting makes no difference and provides no solution. Perhaps if SOE intervened such that you could ONLY declare residence with a single character you have on any given server....
