I think you're all just reading into it too much, I think it's "her" because she is a female and just felt like using "her". There's no way they'd limit the profession to any one sex or species.

But it's mankind, well in the races that have men. So it's sexist to not say he instead. Thats right if you dont want to be sexist ignore the women

Seriously though, lighten up how do you refer to others in a 3rd personish way? I try and use them and they to not be tied into one set of organs but thats just me.
