Thread: Dev help on City Takeovers? Think again..
I just want to state that I understand why people are getting upset when there are PAs or just large groups of people trying to force their way into a city to 'takeover'. But please realize that the devs were not planning on making cities private, nor were they expecting 60 people to all be in one city and in one PA. If anything, they are hoping for city control to part ways with a PA as a city grows, eventually, or ideally for them, cities would become 100% public, with different high lvl mayors running around advertising their skills in many cities to win election for what they can offer. Everyone has been looking at player cities from a really short term perspective, thinking that they can 'control' their city.. realize that these first cities we start are going to most likely be in place for many months to come. Unless a mayor destroys a city hall (the city) these cities can easily last the duration of SWG itself. Do you really think that in 4 months your specific group of 10 or so founders are going to be in control of your city? especially whenin a month or so there might be like 60+ members in it? Even if you have a majority, as politicians get more exp down the road, many mayors will lose their jobs because someone else can simply offer more to their city.
My point here is that alot of people are worried about these 'imposing' people on their city, and look for the devs for help. They are not going to help you, if anything, they are probably glad to see people coming in! I doubt it was their intention to have all these little private cities forming. If people want a small private, exclusive group of people, thats why they made Player Associations. And if you think the devs are going to allow people the ability to 'rig' elections by either blocking voting, /banning citizens, or any other scheme that will make the voting process unjust then you really have to think again. The devs will most likely do everything in their power to reverse any exploit of the type. If they werent, why even have elections at all?
I know alot of you probably dont agree with it, but when you stop and think what angle the devs are coming from, I really dont see how you can look at it any other way. My advice to alot of you is protect your city as best you can, but its not going to last. Get a politician with alot skills, and offer the best incentives to your citizens, and hope they vote for you!
