Thread: WARNING: Factional bases and circular footprints
We placed the smallest available factional base adjacent to our Town Hall last night. When placing, the footprint is a very large square with an outline of the building in the center. This is the "placeable footprint". However, when you actually place the structure, the footprint expands into a shape like a huge pixelated circle (except the pixels are 8 meter squares). This is the "actual footprint".
This makes it very difficult to build around the base (large circular peg in a square grid) and there is much wasted space. However, I noticed that if youplacethe factional base's"placeable footprint" square as close to other buildings as possible, the circular "actual footprint" is overlapped and absorbed into those existing structures' square footprints. Therefore I recommend building your bases as close to other structures as possible to take advantage of the footprint overlap.

Can someone tell me the final footprint size? Or, if that size is irrelevant, can you tell me the footprint size that it 'appears' to be? Meaning how much space it initially requires to place it.
When we placed the smallest Imperial faction base, the footprint appeared to be similar to the Town Halls, maybe a bit smaller. But once it expanded to the circular area, the top and bottom of the circle extend past the Town Hall's by about 16 meters each side (about 2 blocks of 8 each side). Since we placed our base right next to our hall, it was easy to see how they compared.
Again, the maximumextension is just at the top and bottom (or left and right)of the circle's circumference.
