Thread: Is the cap for cities (rank III) or city halls?
Two thingsTH said didn't seem to make sense:
1) "It's not like anyone will have a city in 15 minutes"
If he is talking about a city, this is very true. If he is talking about a city hall, well then it's not. If all the resources and components are pre-built and you have people at the right locations waiting for the patch -- 15 minutes isabout how long it will take.
2) "Everyone is starting from the same point"
Again, if he was talking about a city, very true. If he is talking about a city hall, not true at all.
So which is it. Is the cap for number of rank III cities (i.e. shuttles) OR placed city halls?
Well, first of all the Rank of a "City" is 4(Rank 3 is "Township) ![]()
But what really got be puzzling was THs last remark "chances are we won't reach the cap by the time its lifted..."
Now either he's talking about the cap of 130 cities for one whole galaxy (3x10 + 4x25) and I might agree ... or he's really talking about the 4th Rank of a City ... which would take 4 weeks to grow and Devs said vehicles would come sooner than one might think.
But chance could also be that TH just understood something wrong, or it was a Typo like with the Armor/Weaponsmith, eye Thunderheart ![]()
Wouldnt that just be awesome news..... That "city" is meant literally for the rank and we can all put city halls down but they wont let more than 10 cities hit the "city" status as to avoid millions of shuttles flying about.
However, if this is the case I ask this...... If 20 cities all come up for "city" status at the same time how does the game decide which ones are allowed ?
It is of my opnion though that there are not enough people set up to zoom through to level 4 "city" inside the month so that would fit in with his assumption.
I do believe it is still the 10 city hall placements which is totally wrong and I have already set out a better alternative in one of my posts. I just hope they read it =/
Also he mentioed that the caps would be lifted.... so that leads you more to believe it is "city halls".

Its a very good question, and I have asked it a few times. Is it city halls or rank of city? That is the question. And hopefully TH will give us the answer soon.
Indeed - very good question and one i wanted to know about too
What confuses the whoe issues is TH saying they probably won't hit the caps anyway........ Now if it IS city halls then i don't think TH realises the number of people preparing for this and the extent to which people are going to prepare for it.
Take Naboo for example - a lot of people want to start cities there.....you just have to read the "where will your city be" thread to realise that.
I would bet all the money on my character that Naboo has 10 City Halls placed within a few hours of servers going back up.
I just hope he really does mean lvl 4 cities....and that they put the patch in that increases caps before ANYONE reaches level 4.
I really hope that this is what TH means and would really like it if he would clear this all up for us soon.
It will be 10 Player CITIES...
So there will be ten townhalls on the big three planets and 25on the other ones.
They say this Cap is temporary so I don't see what the fuss is about... and if people are going to get upset cause one group is more prepared than the other well there is a word for that... jealousy.
Nayan,
Is temporary 3 weeks or 3 months? Also it can make a big difference. Say you want to build a city by the Krayt graveyard, say someone else has the same idea. If the other person is lucky and gets 1 of the ten cities and you don't, you will never make up the headstart they get. First person to have a shuttleport, first person to get established will have a viable city. Your city won't be able to compete and will fail.
tag..
i would like to know this as well.
good question. wish i had thought of it
Now that's an interesting analysis. And TH said he should be read by the word...MMhhh.....I'd say it is possible he meant cities as "lvl III" city; not "cities" as we usually mean by "a city hall with some resident houses around".
In doubt, I'll rush nonetheless.
