Thread: Need ability to see structure owner
When a Mayor needs to contact someone about a structure that is in the wrong place etc. they have no way of knowing who owns the structure. I have one that someone in the heat of /grantzone dropped a medium right in the middle of street and named it "New Freeport Jail" and it's private. So we have no idea who owns it, how to contact them and ask them to move it etc.
I think a Mayor should be able to "Examine" a building and see who the owner is. He would be accessing "public" city-hall records anyway to do this.
Am I missing something or has this been hashed to death somewhere else?
I agree with this this has been a long time nag.
the politician should have the ability to see the structures owner and contact that person.
also contacting the citizens like an added button to the radial for the city management terminal like message city. That way you could send an e-mail to all citizens of your city.
much easier then trying to send it to 100 people in 10 name chuncks.
You can save a mailing list in an e-mail body, then copy and paste it into the To: field. You can get more names into the To: field this way than typing.
I maintain a mailing list for everyone who has bought furniture from me, and this works.
emailing groups
email your entire guild by typing in the "To" field - "guild"
email your entire city by typing in the "To" field - "citizens"
other ways of mass mailing people easily - add them to your friends list and in the "Group" field type something like "customer" then click the group button at the top of your friends list and it sorts by group then you select the top of the customer list then hold shift and click the bottom of your customer list this will highlight and effectively select all of them, then hit mail and it gets around the name limit you can physically type in the "To" field
enjoy
Doh !, i knew i forgot something

yes mayors at least should be able to view the name of the owner of a building simply to avoid potential griefing, i heard a counter argument that some people wish to remain covert which is all well and good and isnt entirely unreasonable however if you wish to remain covert then dont plant your imp house in the middle of a rebel settlement for example. - incidently my city is a neutral imp/reb mix we are essentially a merchant town.
Agree - and although it is a bit more of a pain, have you tried using your structure report and a process of elimination? With level 1 cities, it's not like you are going to have 100 structures -- see what you do have, cross off those you know, and the remaining structure of that type is the offending owner...

That is, assuming that this person ever even declared residency?!

Tried that but we have over 45 structures already.. it's hopeless.. And the WAYPOINT is not given in the E-mail.. Wouldn't that be a SIMPLE thing to include in the E-mail and make those messages SO MUCH more useful.. Even if it was like the harvester messages -2321.08 -4452.12 etc.. doesn't have to be an attachment.
The email you get only tells you that so and so have place X building in your city. When the owner renames it you still don't have a clue.
