good lord no! giving the ability to grant zoning rights to the militia automatically is a BAD idea. the mayor shoudl reserve the ability to grant the ability to grant zoning rights to specific individuals. otherwise every fool with a gun who is good for the militia but bad for city planning will be letting people lay downhouses all over. and the mayor can't remove it later! for the love of the game, PLEASE don't let them have that ability automatically. if anything, let the mayor decide who has that ability. devs?

Whilst I too would like to see an option for a mayor to choose who in the militia got zoning rights, I have to question ones choice on the memebers of the militia if they cannot be trusted to not go on a rampant granting spree when they have been told not too. Anyone that fits your description imho should not be in the militia anyway, banning and warning can be as dangerous tool as zoning rights are in our town we are not going to be making ppl mitilia simply because they are good figthers.

As said in another thread, there should be a council. /addcouncilmember should give someone the council ability to grant zoning rights and perhaps do a few other tasks. Police/Soldiers have no place in politics and civic building.

I will severely limit the number of militia to maybe 4 until this gets fixed.

I've got an easy fix for this.

Don't put members on the militia that you dont trust and might abuse this ability. Imagine. If they're gonna mis-use zoning rights, is it possible they'll abuse /cityban and /citywarn? Most definately.

JeanLaffite, there's a huge difference between /cityban or /citywarn and /grantzoningrights. You can pardon someone on the /cityban list, and someone who's been /citywarned may have had an upsetting experience but as long as they used their 30 seconds warningto get outta dodge they're not hurt. With /grantzoningrights you can't undo the damage once an unwanted structure has been placed. The fact is that it takes more people to make up an effective militia than it does to give out zoning rights. In our city, any militia person that uses the /grantzoningrights command will automatically lose their militia powers permanently.

I agree with both of you. This is going to keep my militia small for now. I know people will be upset, but that's the way it has to be, for everyone's security. At least until the city is full up. When we hit level 4, then it's all popcorn.

i can't stand that the militia will be able to place structures. This is a militia breaker. Seriiously.

Nothing wrong with it. If this guys have the right to open fire on anyone, they certainly can be given zoning ability.

Don't hire militia who you can't trust. Real simple.

The police in real life have the right to fire on people if they need to. Do you trust a cop to do city zoning? Of course not. They why should we?
