Thread: Cross-server citizen swap to get around the 10 person cap
I'm still game. Contact me on the Gorath server. Have a city of about 30 residents that would do a swap =)

Maybe we could make this more difficult by saying that anyone that does not spend more than 5 hours on line with that character during a week, their vote does not count that week. Or something else similar to deter this kind of muleing.
Nice idea, but that would be unfair to any city who happens to have legitimate members who go on vacation, have an ISP problem, or any other issue that keeps them offline for a week or so. In close elections, even a couple of members who can't log on during the week could make the difference.
City residents whose real lives are a priority over their game time shouldn't lose their say in their community's leadership just because they miss a week. It's not fair to risk punishingthe honestcities for the actions of a few exploiters. ![]()
my 2 credits: don't post these ideas here if you want them to work . LOL. Don' you think the Devs read these? I might be wrong, but I think you'll be nerfed soon ![]()
Yes, nerfings are happening already. I have heard of one city that has been taken away. It had 7 cross-server citizens in it from what I am told.
I'm sorry, but I am going to speak out AGAINST modifying this in any way.
I understand totally that people are upset about "cross server citizens", however you also have to understand that MANY people (myself included) have agreements with players on other servers that we drop their house for them. I could not run the business I do if I had to drop my own house because they simply take up too many lots.
I LIKE the fact that the incumbent mayor is "voted" for by default. If I have to go away for a few weeks (which I do at holiday time, and I think many people do too), I CAN'T log in to a game just to "vote" for my mayor, either.
Please, Thunderheart, really think through the ramifications from all sides before deciding to make a change to this system. I'm sure it is annoying for people to loose their hard earned city due to cross server trades. However, it is just as annoying, if not more so, and impossible to "counter" as well, if the system is such that people have to log in every single week on a certian day of the week just to insure that the city THEY worked hard to create stays.
Comparing profession destroying loopholes with a minor inconvenience usually doesnt get your way.
Cross-server trading is crap. Plain and Simple. You're creating phantom citizens out of thin air for the sole purpose of "Getting around the citizen requirement" as it says in the title. It doesn't get any more complicated than that. If you cant get the citizens on your own server, you suck and don't need to have a city.
Thank god!
Jeez, it's not even really an issue. Spend time fixing things that need to be fixed first - instead of listening to the whiners. I'd rather see a huge city by cross-server population than broken professions, broken structures, game bugs.
Spend time on the important things already!
Just what inthe worlddo the devs expect to happen? They create a game, promise us features, ommit or nerf them all to hell, then implement them and change the rules the following day. Personally, at this point anyone "exploiting" this system is nearly justified by putting up with the utter crap the Dev team has put us all through.
I never condoned anykind of thing like this before, but the devs deserve it, in my opinion. Here's a novel idea.... listen to your players, and quit screwing up the parts of the game that people actually like. Here's a Star Wars quote for you all "The tighter your grip, the more systems will slip through your fingers." Meaning.... as long as the dev team keeps imposing new rules like higher populations, more maintentance costs, decay, or anything that puts more burden and strain on the players, people are going to find other ways of "improving" their situation in game. Legit or not, thats what will happen.
Stick to a plan, people. Paying customers tend to have a way of taking what they think they deserve. This situation may get nerfed, but someone will find another way. Is it right, not really... but neither is blatantly ignoring the requests of the game's community. As someone pointed out on a different thread the other day. This game doesnt have to be fun for the Devs, butIt must be fun for the players. Now as they make it less fun for us, more people will "cheat" to make it fun.
I am on Tarq... Three accounts willing to swap with anyone. Please let me know.

Well this is a concern, and I will bring it up with the CSRs, but there is a couple things to remember here.
One, talk is cheap. Jumping servers, putting up a house, paying for maintenance and voting every week is a bit of a hassle. 20-30%+ of the people doing this will fade away. After that, you'll lose another 20-30% over a couple of weeks because the hassle will become a hassle and it will get skipped. Beyond that, votes will be missed and there will be slip ups and this will be harder than it appears to be.
If it becomes a problem and it falls within policy, then CS will gladly help.
I agree. People are hysterical over something that has not proven itself to be a problem yet. Besides, it's our 'right' so-to-speak to have characters on different servers, so I think it would be very difficult to sort out the city-cap swaps from legitimate characters.
