Thread: Politicians Without Cities Post Here
I too am a politician without a city. However, I am not upset at the Devs or others with cities. Part of being a politician is winning elections. A good politician not only has the skills to managa a city, he also has something to offer those that might vote for him. I hope the Devs will considder this as they turn the politician into a full fledged class.
If there where no cap to cities than anyone could build their own cities. There would be no need for different people to come together because every PA could have their own city. I do feel that the current situation where PAs controll all the player cities is unfair. But I'm sure some changes will be made in the future to correct that. Untill then I'm going to enjoy trying to get some exp, maybe i'll even get ellected!
Yep, I never was too good at races.
Oh and for some of us moving into a city to run is impossible. I placed my guild hall for the group so I have 1 lot left. And no, I am not making a PA city, there are 2 other PA's that are there and if we can get the hall up soon thanks to the poor ones dropping like flies a potential band is going to set up a cantina/theatre as well as a master musician in my guild. It is all very exciting, and amazing, and not available to me because I have college courses I dont want to ditch on Thursdays.
Keep in mind that this Politician w/o a City is not unhappy because I didn't get a city - I am unhappy b/c no city will allow me to join! There is no way to get Politician xp w/o being a citizen of a city, since I couldn't get votes without being a citizen first. It seems to me that the Player Cities are actually PA Strongholds, where you must conform or not get it.
This is completely against what Plinka said about the profession and the PC cap. She stated that the cap was there to foster real politics to go on b/w politicians in a city. I am all for that, but I can't even get citizenship!
It depends on what your definition of "elite" is, though. If you're "my PA only, hell with you" I agree, that's just not cool. But if you're aiming for a specific type of atmosphere, like an Imperial stronghold, pirate camp, smuggler outpost, trade center, etc and you're limiting your types of citizens to those who would fit, I don't see that as "elitist", I see it as sponsoring a specific type of community in the game world.

I think the key difference is finite bounds vsnondetermined bounds. There are a finite number of people in your PA. There are a much larger nondetermined number of imperials, smugglers, merchants, etc. The city I'm in is one focused on RP so we are similar. We won't turn someone away if they don't RP, as long as they are respectful.
Anyway, I'd say people have, AT LEAST, the right to whine about the additional three week wait (if that's all it turns out to be). Has everyone forgotten that player cities were cut to make the April 15th release date they missed? I mean, really, give me a break.
Oh, and /whinesaboutcitystuff!
Good to hear, Tiaga! Actually we're an RP city on Naboo doing the exact same thing; need to be an RP'er, no exploiters, be respectful and come on in. Right now the town has agreed to keep voting for me for mayor simply so we can get to the point where we can place necessary city structures, but then we will be actively working to train any other interested politicians in experience so we can get real voting in progress without the town suffering loss of mission terminals, etc.

And folks: on the announcements page? Caps have been lifted somewhat. I highly recomend reading Q's post . . . looks like EVERYONE can have an outpost at least within a few days and start getting that politician XP.

My point was Vastar, if people are going to be mad at anyone, be mad at SOE, not those of us that got lucky. Personally I do think the cap is less than desirable, but I do understand why SOE is capping the number of cities. I'm getting tired of reading people bash us for getting our cities down. I'm presonally not a power gamer, uber leeter, or what ever these names people are calling us. People are disgruntled, but their hate is becomming misplaced. I might be one of the rare few that got lucky and IS on your side, but I'm personally not willing to support people who are demeaning andunconstructive. I never said people don't have the right to complain, as you insenuate, BUT what I did say is I am not willing to help people who bash and flame those of us that got lucky. Please do not try and assume, implicate, or put words into my mouth. I am literal, and what I write is what I mean. Anyhow, we do have a lot of bugs that we are dealing with, being first isn't turning out to be golden, maybe silver at best. But anyhow, the point of my post was, DON"T BASH THE LUCKY FEW, bash the developers that really deserve it.
