Thread: A solution to growth griefing...
Posh! Too much carebear!
Let the factions squabble amongst themselves, it'll all stabilize in a few weeks. The strongest cities will endure, while the weak will perish along the wayside, their ruins bleaching in the sun. ![]()
What IS it with you people anyway? ASK to join a city? Come meekly with hat in hand "please mr mayor, can my group join your city?" Bah, such is not the way of the Empire! Only the strong have the right to rule, the weak serve or are consigned to the spice mines. It is in NO WAY Griefing to sieze control of a city. What, is it only the builders that are allowed to be voted into office? Is it the folks that put the city hall up that are only allowed to gain experience?
The suggestions I've been hearing for the last few days are examples of TRUE griefing. Using exploits and cheating to work around IN GAME mechanics to prevent players from playing the game AS IT WAS DESIGNED! Blocking voting terminals, using bans on city halls to block voters. My God, you sound like Democrates!
Sit down, shut up, and play the game. If you have enough folks on your side to retain control of your cluster of hovels, then more power to you! If you find yourself booted from the cushy seat of power and usurpers using the treasury on dancing Twileks in Mos Eisley, then work your people skills to lead a popular revolt against the upstarts. This is some of the most exciting work in a MMORPG I've seen since Shadowbane. Stop with the 'block the vote!' griefing and play the game.
Rebels, please report to the spice mine shuttle immediately.

i said it once, i say it again and i see no reason why we can't do it...
Dictatorship.
what if i want to be a dictator and dont want anyone to take my power away? im good to my people and they are good to me, we grow on a dailiy basis but everyone agrees and thinks i should stay in the hall.
Wow, do you people REALLY all have this much of a problem with people actually griefing you or are you just really THAT worried no one's going to vote for you? Someone else here said it best when they said "griefing" isn't the term that should be used, "democracy" is. That's what you all have a problem with.
Granted, my city's in the middle of nowhere atm, but I haven't had any problems with anyone doing anything hideous to/around my city. A few people have asked if they could move in, no one's given me any problems, and honestly I've told most of them to go ahead and move in, and gave them the guidelines of the city. I'm also a relatively small PA's leader, and the city is ours, we still hold main voting stock of the entire shindig, but even if we lose it I'm not TERRIBLY worried that someone's going to bother to vote me out of office. I'm good at what I do and everyone who's moved into my city has been pleased with how the current Mayor runs things..
Yup, it'd be nice to have a /denyresidency command, and no, I don't think that should remove them from paying property taxes. (Income taxes, ok. But property tax is property tax. They're not taxing a resident's income, like income taxes, they're taxing the USE of the city's land. Even if you're not a registered citizen, if you're on the city's land, you're on the city's land.) But seriously, is griefing THAT much of a problem?
Then again, I don't think anyone in my PA has been griefed by anyone, besides one or two instances in PvP with your typical 1337 gamer "pwning" them.. I suppose it's all about attitude...
Me.
