This is a good idea but it has its problems to.

Say you were a PA of 50 and did this idea with another PA of 50 from another server. You would both end up with 100 citizens which is true but whos paying the maintance on all those houses?

Also any structure tax the city has would be added to the cost of running those houses and you would never get any tax from them because they are dead characters from another server.

I thaught about this weeks ago and it may be ok if you only need one or two people but when you try and do it with 10 or more it gest real expenssive when you think you still have to pay for the up in cost of the hall and other city items as well.

Mojoo here, Starsider. I have a city on LoK, i have 3 accounts myself with a dozen members in my guild, many of whom could be persuaded to set up a house in your town if you set up houses in ours. I'll provide the small houses and keep the maintenance fees paid.

*NOTE- "All citizen votes default to the incumbent mayor. " Meaning you don't have to sign on every week and vote again, nice huh.

So you make a character, get to my town (i'll pay traveling expenses) and place the small house I give you, all done.

So if anyone wants to make a deal for 3-10 trades on Starsider let me know!

I have been doing this since Thursday and have already organized swaps with another small city on Eclipse and on Wanderhome.

I am still interested in adding a few more partners on the other servers.

I have 3 accounts myself, but my PA members have all included themselves so these swaps have been for 10-15 people each way.

1) Each city makes the required small houses for the new immigrants.

2) They place the houses where the want and then /transferstructure to the new immigrants as they arrive.

3) The new immigrants, set the admin to the mayor or his designee, and then they declare residence there.

The end result is that you have a new resident citizen, who keeps the house on HIS lots, and counts towards the city cap. The Mayor (or the city) takes responsibility for the maintenance on the new home and can use it for storage and the like.

This arrangement works best with an even exchange due to the increases maintenace.

The maximum you really need in the first week is 20 since the politician can't gain more than 2000 xp on this coming assessment day.

Sorry if I am going to sound negative here but what is the point of all this?

I thought the whole idea behind cities was for people to form groups from people on their own servers and build up a relationship and city from that.

Not for everyone to have their own little Outpost of 50 people with 45 who don't even play on that server!

Our city is made up of quite a large number of people from our PA (some 50 odd) but as we advertise ourselves more and more people are visiting and expressing a desire to move in.

We are building up relations with these people, grouping with them and all helping each other to build the city up.

Isn't that what this is all about?

Oh and we are on one of the newest servers too.

Again sorry if I have got the wrong end of the stick but I think you will find it more enjoyable if you advertiese your city in game and get people to move in from your own server rather then a load of phantom residents.

I have so phantom residents now, but why not? The are using places like our city museum and the pound as there residents. I am not trying to pass them off as more people, but why not have a free spot?

I understand what you're saying, Jayces. Let me give you my reasoning behind this, as it's what I know and can attest to personally. I do agree, however...

I have a group of friends, family, whatnot who number seven. We are roleplayers, we hunt together, and we enjoy each other's company. One thing we all agree on is the fact that we don't care for many of the other people in the game. We should like very much to have roleplayers around us, or just plain good people, but without the ability to say, "Yes, you are more than welcome in our city" or "No, please, you can't grasp the fact that the word 'you' has three letters, you would not fit in here", we don't wish to openly recruit.

Many of the other friends I have in this game are involved in PAs. I choose not to be, as I have had too many bad guild experiences to just dive into this. Therefore, they are adding their numbers to the cities their PAs are creating, and aren't available to fill out the remaining three spots I need.

I would very much prefer ten active people. Unfortunately, at least initially, that isn't going to happen. My friends and I just want our own little place to add some utility to our homes, and the area in which we have built. I hate having to run to a town to take missions. If I do this all the time, I don't see the home I worked so hard to decorate. I don't see my neighborhood, whose location I worked so hard to find. We just want a little outpost, with a mission terminal and a garden, and a place for adventurers to rest if they happen by. I don't want a 40 person city. I don't want a two person hamlet with a bunch of empty houses. I just need to fill out the last couple places.

There's nothing wrong with little towns dotted here and there. As we all hunted on Dantooine last night, we happened into the nicest little town. It gave us a place to sit, heal up, call out new pets, and rest. I was grateful to the mayor of that place. Not every place has to be a metropolis. A nice town can be as simple as the little place you drive through on your road trip that lets you use the bathroom, grab a snack, and fill the tank.

Hate to be a prude, but this sounds border line cheat/exploit. Of course, technically its not, but ethically it is.

What about new mayors in your town? They wont have a chance with this in place. All the "fake" citizens will continously vote for the current mayor for as long as that mayor continues to pay their house bill. That sounds like a politician exploit in the making and a grief to other candidates for mayor in that town for the rest of the time the town is around.

I can understand if you're hurting just to meet the 10 citizen mark so you don't loose the city hall, however you can easily find people in game for this. If you can't convince anyone to live in your town that actually plays on your server, then maybe you shouldn't be using the town slot in the first place. It's not fair to all those groups that would easily be a level IV city by now if it were possible that didnt even get a chance to lay down a city hall due to the caps.

Again I hate to spoil the fun, but someone has to be the devil's advocate.

I agree Jean, its people like this that ruin a good game. Hopefully the Devs will do something to stop this sort of behavior. If you can't get more than 10 people, you shouldn't have 1 of the city slots. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

The more i think about this, the more i get heated up about it. I'm glad to be a prude now. This is wrong. It's extremely unfair to everyone playing the game, especially those that DID NOT get a city hall placed.

With this tactic, you could easily find 50 people (like-minded) to do this with you. So you'll have 57 citizens, 7 only being REAL citizens (4 of them being you and your wife). Now in your city, there's really only 3 other citizens that are even real people, yet you are a class IV city. You have your own shuttle port, bank, cloner, and everything else you could ever want all in your own backyard.

SO in effect, you have your own personal 900 M PLAYGROUND that you dominate and dictate what is done. We don't pay 15 bucks a month to go by your rules because you feel the urge to cheat the system. The way it sounds, you do not deserve to even have access to a city hall.

My previous post was done with only a small amount of thought about what you are proposing. After I thought about what you're really after, I got pissed off. With this method, people will find a way to "rope" off 900 m of land just for themselves and their friends, just to claim territory in game and have access to city buildings in their backyard.

You will be taking the slot away from a serious group of players that want to use player cities for what they were intended. This is griefing at its best. After this post, I'm forwarding this thread to Taurin as an exploit. Call me a jerk, baby, whiner, whatever you feel like. I'll be damned if I sit here and let this kinda crap take place, so someone can have their own personal 900 m property on the planet of their choice. I'm sure this method is going to catch on like wildfire for people that think the rules don't apply to them. I can see it now, cities will be personal backyards for chumps that cant do the right thing.

Whatever happened to doing things the right way? Why ruin it for the rest of us?

AS i posted elswhere, Player Resorts are NOT in the game yet. Player Cities are. This a legal exproit. Count on it being nerfed, to the detriment of us all.

This is totally unethical. I joined this game to live in the sw universe and run a city. Now punks like you ruin the game for us all with this tactic. Totally unbelivable.
