Thread: Dev's: How will you prevent towns from being malisciously taken over?

Towns cannot be take over maliciously, they can only be taken over by majority vote. Your problem is you want to control who gets to move in, I think the developers should do everything to keep you from controlling that.
It is not your town, it stopped being yours the second you placed the town hall.
Dayln we can say this till we are blue in the face yet they will never get it. They want 'their' city. And they want it to remain 'thiers' no matter how many people live there now.
I know, they are not going to get that towns are NOT jsut etended PA's. They think they own them.
There are steps that could be taken to defeat this, but they are drastic.
no.. our city (not my hehe) is not under seige.. I'm just saying other may have.. then again I'm not on a starting planet (with max 10) I'm on datooine.
There are 2 other cities that are 2.5km away from us.. we make a perfect triangle.. hehe

Yes, the original guy will have to pay for the City Hall. When you get thrown out, what do you lose? The city is still there!! Your house is still there!! If the taking over gang builds a shuttleport, you gain it too! The only thing you lose are the bragging rights for having built it yourself!
Not if the only reason the siegers are trying to take over your city is to destroy your city hall to make room under the planet cap so they can place their own city hall elsewhere...
What then? Your city is NOT still there.
And, when I say "your city" that's a collective group "your", not a singular "your". ![]()

You really can't prevent this . . . what they really need to do is extend zoning rights out to the maximum usable area. There's so much buildable land out there that people who didn't want to join a city could easily still place a house (and probably STILL be only 500m from a shuttleport), or find a city who cares about size more than protecting a gaming style or faction or what have you.

Ack...that would be horrible...so even though you only have a measely outpost and will never grow I cant put my Medium Harvester on that mineral sweet spot because you outpost is 450 meters away? give me a break.
and as for the original question simple answer is they wont, nor should they. enough has been said on the subject.
my definition of malicious
Take over the city and destroy it.. that is malicious (while timing perfectly having another PA member place a new one after yours is destroy... that is malicious
taking over the city and raise taxes and ban you from your own home (at least for 5 min then you can reenter.. assuming you don't get killed first).. that is malicious
that is what most mayor fears ![]()
I agree extend zoaning rights to the full 1km away from the city hall. that way of people want to palce harvestors ina good spot the city can benefit from leasing some land out.
you are missing the point..
a hostile take over DOES NOT HAPPEN RIGHT AWAY
the encumbent mayor will still be the mayor for at least one week from the time the hostile houses become a part of the city...
therefore back to what I said....
DO YOUR JOB AS A MAYOR AND SECURE YOUR POSITION WITH NEW FRIENDLY VOTES
well.. I have been doing my job (as corespondant) and guess what?? I can't get people to move into out city!!!!
so if a PA with 70+ people coming in.. I have no chance of winning (that means I need to somehow get 50+ people I want in the first place which I can't get.
all of our member and citizens are trying.. but most do already have one.. or not interested.. (I even offer free homes to those need them)
