I agree - this was poorly implemented.Being on the"wonderful"Wanderhome server, most of us in my PAgot to experience majorconnection issues, that by the time we were inand ready to place - all the lots on Tat were already gone. What the heck do I do as a politician now? What do we do with this deed thatcame witha HUGE resource price tag?!?!

I'm also one without a city. My small guild is waiting till the caps are lifted, but I don't know if they're gonna stick with the game unless SOE gets it's act together overall with this game. Stop adding features, fix and balance the loads of broken ones! (more their words than mine)

Hopefully I can become a more crafter based player and get out of combat someday.

Mayor ofan unofficial city

On a side note, a post I read on the Ahazi boards stated 'I have a city, but no residents - who will join me?'

Apparantly having a number of players keen and eager to grow a city waiting in anticipation means squat.

Also from the Ahazi Boards...

'Paying 20k for residents' - I need 3 residents before the time is up or I lose my city. My guild was unable to get online.

There may be slots opening up from dumbasses who only thought the placing through

A problem I have with waiting another month is that it is very unfair to be forced to wait for something promised to everyone only to be sidelined because I and my friends dont play the uber game, hell we dont even want a super huge city a size 2 is all we are shooting for! We just want a place with some nice fountians a few merchant tents a bank and a good roleplaying atmosphere. Just a place to call ours, and what we got was a slap in the face.... Now on to another problem here I have already read 2 contradictions from Devs on this topic, Thunderheart says next month in Dec (some no discript time) because its complicated and they need to think about how to work it out, then Blair comes along and say the opposite, that its easy to fix and can be done right now with a hotfix but they are not sure when they want to do it. Is it just me or is something rotten here? I simply just want to have fun, I pay for this to have fun and I am not having fun I am feeling cheated! I like the game, and believe the solution is available to the Devs, but I also think there is something going on down in Austin they are not telling us about this whole patch and that makes me worried about the game as a whole. I just hope I can convince my friends to stick it out just a few more days for a fix else this game is over for the 10 of us, and that makes us very sad but we simply can not take feeling screwed over and over anymore. So Devs please consider us the lowly casual gamer and up this cap or delete it all together.

I sign in too. We prepared everything for weeks but when i tried to place our hall about 12h after the patch the cap was already reached. Now we have to wait at least 3 weeks but nobody can say if we can make it then.

I hope our guild stays together but 2 already left the game, because that was the only the they looked forward to since the rest got boring. We dont want to join a city or dismiss a mayor just have our own place.

I think the whole system of placing the halls is a bit unfair. It shouldnt been allowed to place those halls immediately after the server launch rather in the evening so that everyone has the same chance.Im not sure if iwant to wait any longer, the cities have been delayed long enough and it just hurts me to see what we could have done in those 3 weeks... Everyone should get the same start not delayed 3 weeks just because you have to work like a normal man. That really upsets me! Normaly im not the 1st one to rush. Iwait for getting a mount because im not willing to pay the enormous sums now but i have spend lots of time and resources for a city hall and our guild and now it seems to be useless...

I have been reading all of these posts about unhappy people. I don't think anybody should attack those who did get them -but I also don't think those select few who did camp/prepare to get them should be gloating either. I think we -all- should direct our comments/questions and flat out anger towards the people who made the cities happen. They are the ones who did this.

A large amount of people who do play SWG, do not visit the forums often. We pay to play the game, not to read the forums. Personally, I visit the forums every few days-but I didn't see anything about the limit of cities allowed in the first shift. There is so much to read here on the forums, even if you visit it often. It would have been easy for SOE/SWG to post more information in the screen updates where the game loads. I think it was very inconsiderate of them not to do this for us. Maybe if they stated the limit then and the reason behind it, they would have had less ticked off people.

Tell me something, who would NOT be upset if they didn't know of this limit until after they spent 500 ap points and 500k to 2 million in credits + time spent. Who? Now granted this is just a game, however we pay to play this as I have already stated-I don't think it's too much to ask for more information before we spend our time on a fruitless endeavor.

The staff who worked on the cities really let me down. They let my guild down as well. My guild planned for this, not once but TWICE. We moved from another server after several months. So we put a city together twice now-or what should NOW be a city butisn't. So we'll play the waiting game until we can get our city. Let you guys work out the kinks and bugs new cities have -just know we are not happy with you one bit SOE. If you make this habit you will lose some of us-because we don't pay to play and be unhappy or ticked off.

With that...I "sign" my name to this.

This cap has also angered many of my guild members and myself included. I took up master architect for the main reason to make city structures for our city, but because I loged in an hour after the servers came up after the patch and not right away due to some techical problems with the patch, our guild couldnt place a city hall because of the cap. Now we have to wait another 3 weeks for the next patch before we can make our city??? I can guarantee you, SOE, that if this problem isnt fixed soon, then you will see a lot of people quitting the game. That means you will be losing a lot of money from the revenue you would have been getting from us.

Hey guys!

Really sorry to hear that you did not get your player City up, but let me tell you that they are going to be worth the wait - we got ours up yesterday and we've been having a lot of fun though.

A couple of points I would make in defence of SOE:

1. I'm not an uber-player - I only put in about an hour a day, but I've got a GREAT guild who worked with me to make sure that we were ready to go shortly after the patch was on - this really had to be a team effort to work... I'm interested in how many of you talk about 'my deed' LOL

2. Life isn't fair... just look at what Arnie did to Davies in California!

3. Why not join an existing city and earn some Politician XP running in an election?

4. If you're on Naritus why not come up to our City and check it out?

Yours,

I am not necessarily sore about not being able to set up my own city. What is really getting on my nerves is not being able to join an existing Player City. The few that I have been to will NOT accept non-guild members. I feel that point of the Player City is not to have a stronghold for your PA, but to allow multiple PAs or even factions to live in the same city and carry on a conflict over control of the city. You know, add the flavor of role-playing within these cities. With the rights of citizenship resting solely in the hands of the mayor, I will not be able to live in a Player City and gain some Politician xp w/o leaving my PA.

I find this situation to be extremely unfair. I would like to be able to excercise my skills as a Politician in a Player City. Otherwise, my skill is a total waste.

What did arnold do to some Davies smuck?

California Recalled its governor.

How can we run for mayor in another city if the militia and mayor bans or prevents anyone not in their guild?

I want to Recall MYTH for dropping their city just close enough to block an existing city thats been there for four months while moving in just in the last two weeks.

Hey might aswell try that. Call me a City Griefer. Lets all move in on someone elses city and steal it from them. HAH HAH HAH

There is no contradiction here. Thunderheart was talking about removing the cap completely. In his post he explained that there was some work to change how the database deals with player cities and that it will be in the next publish, and at that point they can feel comfortable removing the cap without causing server side problems. The process will be long and complex and likely require a publish with extended 3-4 (IE 6-8) hour downtime to update the DB, so not something appropriate for a hotfix.

Blaire was just talking about raising the cap. Perhaps they see that the load they were expecting isn't so bad, or they decided cities will be small enough until then that it won't be a big problem. So they might raise the cap to, say, 15 cities for the base planet, or 20. But the cap will still be there. This is probably just a matter of updating a field in a database somewhere.

So you see, there is nothing rotten, no contradictions, and no two stories. Both those are independantly true.
