Thread: Growth griefieng Questions
The residents of Serenity (Lowca, Naboo) are currently facing this problem. This is a REAL issue that needs to be delt with. We planted a city hall in an area where the nearest house or player structure other than a single fusion harvester was more than 1500m away at the time when we placed the hall.

Oh that's right. The city founders. Not squatters and griefers.
So the city founders should roll over, accept this, and praise griefing disguised as democracy?
Hmm... I think not.
You guys are getting confused!
Cities do not belong to people - they belong to whoever lives in them!
If you've only 15 friends then you are not much of a politician and shouldn't have a city in the first place - sorry to be harsh, but that's a fact.
Also, I don't understand why people are placing cities so close to existing establishments.... If you want to establish a TRUE city you need to go out into the wilderness.
We had to kill countless Tuskens and countless Squills to place our right in the middle of Tatooine - now people are joining in droves - that is a real city.
If you want a private place for you and your friends, you deservue to be taken over - and I suspect that you will be!
Yours,
So instead of willfully being invited into a city ro co exist as a society greed is making you grief and squat other people because your ego wont let you be second in line or maybe a joiner instead of a creator .
your logic is fouled, and smells of greed.
share a city earn your right to become mayor by using good politics dont grief and squat like a 13 year old child who wasnt first in line in the lunch line in school and missed the last piece of pizza.
Cheers,
dude there would be no more Oak oppression
if youjust passed a noble law
then those trees would all be kept equal
by hatchet axe and saw
Wouldn't it be easier to simply /cityban whoever places a house close to your city that you don't want? Even if they are considered citizens by virtue of owning property in the city zone, they won't be able to enter city hall to vote (or use any other civic bldg. for that matter) and their vote will automatically go to the incumbent mayor.

I believe the ONLY thing a band citizen can do is vote . . . .

Or could you follow plan B: after the expansion I think the Maples are in charge for one more week. Redeed everything the Maple's own except one small house for the mayor. Have the Maple's removed Have the mayor jack taxes the to max, draining the Oak's cash. Pull 50k of their credits from the treasury out each day. At the end of the week, if they haven't picked up and moved out, redeed the City Hall, which I believe will effectively hijack the treasury (you may not have access to it, but you will take some of their cash to compensate you for your losses), and have someone ready to immediatly place another hall somewhere else.
This is just devious enough to work, I LOVE it! Beat the griefers at their own game, or at least make it that if they are going to win they pay through the nose for it.
And for all of you saying that this squatting/griefing is the only way for you to get your player city, Grow the Hell Up! You will be able to place your city in a few weeks, if not sooner. I'm sorry there were limits in place, but they were put in for solid reasons and we have to live with them. Taking over another city smacks of childishness to the worst degree. Live with the fact that you will have to wait a little longer and don't ruin gameplay for someone else just because you want something.
Funny how you guys talk about this being GRIEFING, what a joke. The Devs came right out and said they wanted OPEN cities for whoever came along to run them. Don't blame players in-game for acting with the guidelines set forth by the Devs.
This is a huge aspect of the GCW for all the non-bounty hunter types. Even without a CAP, I would expect a group of Rebels (even with their own city) to attack anearby Imp city within the rules of the GAME.
Blame the Devs, not the players that want to be involved in a Player City and/or broaden the action in the GCW.

Who paid for the original city structures?

Was someone holding a gun to your head when you purchased those buildings? Were you forced to? Or did someone forget to send you the memo that you would have to be paying these costs and even face risks at loosing them from a hostile take over?
You knew all of these things before hand, yet you chose to take the risk. Just because you buy something, doesnt mean you "OWN" it for eternity.
One last thought:
Who "OWNED" the United States before the colonies arrived?
do they still "own" it? We all know what happened to their land rights as soon as the masses arrived.
It's survival of the fittest, and everyone knows the costs and risks of this game, something the Indians didnt have access to. You knew by buying a city hall deed that it could be taken by anyone and that it was public once placed. Is the city hall taking up any of your lots? No, its public.
I believe Sony has put up a 100m no-build zone around the outpost. I recall thata non-mayorcould not place any structure closer than 250mto City Hall.
This is an excellent anti-grief protection. It lets the city grow to decent size before tackling determined griefers.
I have also dropped several dozen Mineral Mining Installations outside the city. If some group does try to grief us, then when we grow into that area, we can replace each harv with two small houses. (Besides, there's 47% ore and 91% aluminum out there!)
