Politician Archive
Thread: Number of Politicians...Its going to be more rare then Jedi.
Dear Hypersensitive Plaintiff,
1. You're right, there won't be many politicians. Tomorrow, walk down the street. Look at the people you meet; how many crafters do you see? People in the service industry. Cabbies. Shop owners. Now, how many politicians? Not many, ehh? Seems pretty realistic to me...
2. What about this was a big surprise to you? You constantly ignore the fact that, this morning, you chose to try to become a successful politician. You presumably knew about the caps and how difficult it would be to become a politician in a city you didn't start. If you didn't, that ain't SOE's fault... you obviously can read forums.
3. Lawsuit? You're joking, right? Why you would even bother bringing up non-litigated (that's lawyer talk for "not a lawsuit") claims against past games? Why don't you do some research of your own - Sony owed you no duty to make you a politician. They said they'd offer you the same chance as everyone else, and they did.
4. You whine about the big bad guilds controlling everything. Yet some of the most influencial guilds in the game got left out during today's free-for-all once the servers came up. Getting your city in under the cap took luck - the "big, bad guilds" had little to do with it. You were unlucky. Guess you're gonna have to wait a whole two friggin weeks for them to drop the cap... pity, really...
5. How, pray tell, would you have a politician level up - I only ask because you imply repeatedly that somehow it's unfair that politicians only level up by winning votes. Well, last I checked, that's what politicians REALLY DO. That's why nobody calls Al Sharpton a politician...
Seriously, quit whining. You make asanine threats about a lawsuit, you're begging to get flamed...
1) I understand its not going to be a huge class, but give me a break. Tell you what, you give it a try without a city hall under you, and tell me its a class "for everyone". Your right not every is a politician, but everyone has the right (at least in this country, barring criminal background and naturalization) to run for office...Oh ya...you can do that here too, just don't expect to win.
2) I don't scour the boards looking for information, at least I didnt until today...I would expect this info to be in the city section of the Holocron that was added today...its not. There is no requirement to read outside boards to be any class...
3) Once again, I said they leave them selves open to legal action...I never said I was going to bring a lawsuit, look I played both EQ and UO at the time they had legal issues...and these halfbaked plans and patches are what causes them.
4) I'm not whining about guilds controlling anything - I'm tired of playing a game where we are told one thing, and something else happens ... I'm a DE, a Merchant and not a Politician...I'll tell you this much, its not too much fun when your classes of choice are not thought out or implimented with any thought behind them.
Look, I'm done with this...look around, I'm not the only ticked off player today. I hope you are right and this cap is actually lifted, but after today I'm not counting on anything.
im serious, if you a lawsuit, over a game, because you werent fast enough to place a city hall, you need to get a life, just wait until the cap raises
if you want to do a lawsuit, i dont really care, its not gonna effect me at all, it will just be hilarious though, its like saying "I went to go place a house at 1000,1000, i went back and another house was there! LAWSUIT!"
Not many PA's have 80 members, this is going to require them to bring people into their cities that aren't a part of their guild. I predict what will happen is guilds that were unable to place a city will move into another city creating an opposing political force. Obviously an unguilded person with no connections isn't going to be able to move into a city and have any chance of running for mayor. You have to think of the PA's as different political parties; cities are big, and the chances that one PA is going to be able to control an entire population is slim. Even in the event that a PA will start recruiting more membersspecifically for political power; when their ranks begin to reach 80, there will more than likely be some sort of breakdown in mayor loyalty. Separate people within the guild will begin running for mayor.
I just think that you're jumping to conclusions, and not thouroughly thinking about all of the possibilities.Even ifthey allowed more cities, it would only further spreadout the population, which in turn wouldprevent the construction of large cities. With 10 cities on a planet, this would requirenearly800 people per planetfor each city to reach metropolis. There are what? 6 planets that allow player cities? So we're talking nearly 5000 people for each city to reach the size of metropolis. You then have to take into account thepeople on the server that don't have homes, and/or don't want to be a part of player cities.
In my opinion; I think it's going to be a lot more fun for people to be forced to move into a city that's not uniformly controlled by one guild, rather than for each guild to have their own half-ass city, thus destroying ANY possibility for diversity and political competition.
Instead of getting all heated and attacking the creators of the game that's obviously been significant enough to deeply influence your mental well being--sit back and think things through. And don't threaten legal action, it's immature and selfish. Don't say that you weren't either. You were deliberatly using the idea that SOE could get sued to threaten what you determined to be an ideal gaming experience for YOU, regardless of who was actually doing the sueing.
