Opps... hit a bad key

So I'm very concerend about going into partnership with another guild for our player city. From the way I read things, we could do all the work (we have every structure already builtand waiting) and basicly be ousted by the other guild on an election. They could basicly vote a new mayor of theirs, and then remove our zoning rights. Am I reading everything correct? After waiting so long, I feel this would be a travesty, but my guild doesn't have the 55 members needed for a class 4 city.

They cannot remove zoning rights( as far as I understand it ). But it is not your city, just becasue Jacks construction company builds and pays for the white house does not make Jack the dictator of the USA.

If you are a good mayor and run the city well there would be no need to vote you out.

We are doing the same thing, going into partnership with another neighboring PA to start a Player City. It just comes down to a matter of trust and faith. If you just can't trust them, either have them start their own player city elsewhere or you go elsewhere. I know, I know, your location is great and you were there first, but you just don't want to be voted out. Maybe their politician will totally screw things up and even their PA will want them out and will vote you in.

Or, you can makean agreementlike I did with a good, fair plan (previously posted, if you can find it). Discuss it with them and draw up a plan. This will help in future trust and making future decisions as well. Be openly honest with them and hopefully they will be honest with you.

You can also take turns making structures and sell the ones you have they they built.

So all it comes down to trust and faith.

the only griefer I worry about are... taking over a city and kick the rest of us out.. (that can happen)

or just destroy your city... (that can happen too after voting you out)

I don't mind people join our city.. we all have the same goal (unless it is rebel/imperial... but I guess we can have BOTH terminals available)

Well, I'm not gonna be mayor, my guildie is, but what does that matter if the people you choose to help end up being jerks? The more I read this board, the more I feel like you can't trust a dang person. Siege after takeover. It seems pointless to do all this work just to have it all taken away. I guess it is like real life.

People cannot be "kick-out" of a city. They can be harrassed, taxed, and made to feel unwelcome but not kicked out. Yes, if a new mayor decides to destroy the hall he has the power to do that.

Dude

this is SWG not Sim City.SOE needs to make it clear that if you START a city you don't OWN that city... you are a citizen like everyone else..... and things happen... my town has to move now because of new rules... we got to deal with it... Think of a strategy and overcome... you can do it/

I understand I don't own the city... I built the city (literally) but I hate to see all my hard work goes to waste (i.e. destroy totally) that would make me very sad.

I hear you can /ban citizen from their own city..

now.. if someone takes it over and lets us live there.. I have no problem with that just throwing out the original settlers are not a good way to do it

Which in my way of looking at things is not nearly as fun as fighting tooth and nail, making alageataions and smearing my opponents name whenever possible. ( while secretly my entire PA is likely going to vote for him, he justdoesnt know it yet ).

What we want is a good political fight in our city, good humored factions.

It has ended up making us all very good freinds, but we would never say that out loud. It has gotten to the point that my opponent is giving me ideas to use agaisnt him, I do the same.

"I am NOT haveing any kind of relationship with my Carrion Spat!" "That is an outrage!", "I tried to of course, but she is just not that kind of Spat!"
