Thread: No experience for incumbant votes?

I haven't checked this, but I read it on a thread and want to see if it's true.


"A CSR responded and said you don't get xps for default incumbent votes, only votes that were placed by citizens."


Have others seen this to be the case? Do you have to go to the voting terminal and click on the incumbant mayor in order for him/her to get the experience--even though your vote is already for this candidate?


This would make a big difference and all mayors should know if this is the case. It's not too hard to vote once every seven days, but they should know they have to. I think this would be a good thing to have in place (so that those not involved or not even logged in won't give experience) but we should know whether this is true or not.

no... its that YOUR VOTE as Incumbant does not count.... you don't need to vote for an incumbant.... lol... like real life....

hmmmm But perhaps that is the way it SHOULD work. That would also help to handicap ghost towns.

Again, I have to agree with Dayln. If a player city has so many ghost citizens, that mayor shouldn't be able to scoop up all that experience for nothing at all. Let him/her get the votes, sure, but not the experience.

Simple way to prevent ghost towns is to institute a 48 hour clause... that forces each citizen to not only log but re-enter house every 48 hours... or they lose declaration rights for a week.... for those going on vacation... just notify your mayor of it... and the fact the have one less citizen for that time period you are gone... if you have lotsa people going on vacation... I guess you have a crisis to deal with... no one said mayor would or should be easy...

48 hours is a little short, in my opinion. Once a week seems often enough, but not too often for casual gamers or those involved elsewhere in the galaxy.

In real life how many people go to their house 1 time a week? not too many...

this sucks


I have created a city of 55 citizens thus far, none of them are these "ghost citizens" you refer to. I have declined offers to do that as it will only destroy what the ideals are behind player cities.


Now requireing all citizens to vote again is fine, but I think this should be clear in the status window.


Right now it looks as if I am going to recieve 55 votes, but get nothing for it? There needs to be a better way to display this information so I know how many people need to vote vs how many have.


I would hate to spam all citizens, even those who already voted because I have to blanket cover everyone...

I don't think we know yet for sure if you have to actually use the voting terminal to give the politician experience. It was stated, but not confirmed yet. I know there's a bug that the mayor's vote doesn't give experience, this has been stated. The discussion we've been having has been whether this should be the case, even if it isn't.


I say that if a person doesn't visit their house at least once in seven days then why should the politician get the experience from that vote? I would almost call this a ghost vote. If the spirit of a player city is for a large number of players to work together for a common goal, advantage, and sense of community, then how is not visiting the city for over a week contributing to that? The city should not gain through the mayor's experience because of players who aren't contributing?

I love this idea to fight ghost voting. It seems easy to implement (assuming auto-votes are identifed differently than real votes). The Politician should be required to do something to get xp. Getting someone to vote for you is that thing. In this case you opponent is apathy.

Ghost town, oh brother.


Apparently none of you dip**edit**s live in florida, where half the population goes north every summer for 5-6 months. I guess we better start annuling their votes since they dont vist their houses every week.


Really, you assclowns should learn to live with it and find something important to complain about.

As has been said many times in the politian forum, Peleas, Star Wars Galaxies cannot be applied to the real word. This is a game. What makes this game fun and challenging is a balanced game environment. Exploiting the intended design makes the game fun for a select few, and everyone else gets mad that those few have an unfair advantage.


Swapping citizens with somone on another galaxy is one way of exploiting the incumbant auto-vote. This would be a good way to fight that. If the player does intend to play on both galaxies, then there would be no problem. If they just want an extra citizen to reach the next city size, that would be no problem. The mayorwould even still get the vote. (This would be the connection to real life--you don't have to be in town to have your vote cast.) The only difference is that the mayor wouldn't get the political experience from those who don't play.


How can you calculate how much political experience candidates get in real life? I fail to see your reasoning on this one. If you care to explain further, that would be a constructive use of the forums (as was intended). Flaming others because you don't agree with ideas is against forum policy and gets you no where.
