Who do you think you are? What you dont have enough skill to make your own city? I am sooo tired of hearing about people taking over other's cities. Wait for the caps to be removed if you cant wait move to another planet our guild was on naboo, found out we were a few mins too slowl. So we pulled up stakes and moved to Danto. Theres MORE than enough lots out there that you do not have to do a hostile takover. I have no respect at all to anyone that does get a city that way, i know i was mad when we didn't get our city in naboo but oh well life goes on. Sorry for the rant but i'm tired of hearing about people taking othercities by cheap exploits like living outside and waiting, and YES that is an exploit. SOE should have made it so when you place your city all 450m around your city is zoned to you but you can not use it all, that would have stopped the seiging.

well.. I totally understand your fustration (that is my fear too.. take over)

but.. remember.. the city cap (level 2 and above) will still be in place.. (like 25 for datooine)

so.. when the cap is lifted (for level 1) there will be other (say.. another 25 outpost) waiting for one of the first 25 original city to fall.. so they can get upgrade.. (once you are upgrade.. you are in) cause there is a max..

You still won't get upgrade if all original 25 cities reach level 5 status

Wouldn't you just be able to enable zoning rights and only allow those you grant zoning rights to build there? Or is there a way around this?

I still don't under stand "city take over". If a mayor has the vote majority, that mayor wins. Period. If you get voted out, run a campaign next week to get more votes.

well.. when you place a city.. it check within 1km if another city is near by (max city growth)

BUT.

as an outpost... you only can zone control upto 150m radius of City hall. once you get to level 2.. zone control upto 200, 300, 400, 500 (level 5)

thus... if you built a city... someone can freely place outside of 150m.. once you upgrade (have more than 20) you auto iniate the outskirts of your city... so if a large PA really wants it.. they can surround your city (cramming as much as they can between 150-200m away from city hall.. they can add a lot of people.. and it will auto expand again (if limit reach.. only need 15 more for level 3) and add more people...

Again, There is no "SOMEONE'S CITY".

The second you place a town hall it is not your city anymore, it belongs to the citicizens that live there. And they do not have to be people that like you or that you select.

Yes there is "someone's city" and there are city owners too. If you don't believe me, you haven't been playing on Bloodfin. My advice to those of you fretting about losing control...here is some 20/20 hindsight: Just don't drop a city hall if your guild is not big enough to sponsor, maintain and retain control of the growing metropolis.

Actually, hostile takeovers arent an exploit. They are encouraged by the devs.

As far as not having the "skill" to build a city, I would hardly consider a gold-rush style patch implementation skill-related.

Dayln, you're wrong. There ARE private cities. A new mayor can drop a city hall where there are no people and all of his friends can come live with him, and he can turn zoning rights on.

However, these people can easily prevent losing their city by simply having some people undeclare so they never hit 20 or 35 or whatever their target number is.

No there are not, there are people trying to make them private cities, but that was never the intent of player cities. hopefully the developers will make changes soon that work against people trying to make private cities.

Take away the locking of the town hall

Remove zoning rights ( or alter it )

Randomally delete or make non-residence the houses of Ghosts from other servers.

etc.

I do not think removing zone would be good

how then you have organization (if you have alternate plan.. please present them)

Well, I am not dead set on that one,

I am against private player cities in general though. People need to get it out of thier heads that they own cities.
