Thread: when will the player city limit increase?
suppose to be around 1st week of december... that will make 3rd tier upgrade to those city who qualify..
I have a feeling the devs might "Extend" that until 5th week when city reach metropolis level and see what happen before release the cap for level 1 cities.

I know some of you are still anxious for the Planetary Caps to go up so let me share a little bit with you about the ongoing discussions. Player Cities are a fantastic new feature and everyone wants their own city, but lets consider the situation a little bit. Playing a Sith’s advocate, lets say we lifted the planetary caps tomorrow and anyone could run out and build a player city. A maximum player city radius is 1000 meters. In time, players would build cities wherever and however they could and urban sprawl would litter the galaxy. All the planets would have city after city, every 1000 meters and each planet would lose its character. Naboo would cease to be Naboo with no more pastures and greenspace. Tatooine would no longer be an empty desert where C-3PO and R2-D2 could wander for days without seeing anyone and the examples of how urban sprawl would ruin the feel and aesthetics of the galaxy go on and on.
hehe.. that is what I was thinking the dev would be ![]()
I missed that post..

Not sure when he said that, but I know he said this:
"The current caps are not permanent. We will be lifting the caps some time between now and the next publish which will be early December. To find out exactly what that number will be, we will be doing additional Player City Testing on Test Center. We don’t know what that number will be, but don’t despair, we have solutions to address many different player concerns here."

There is this little thing called fraud - if you making a statement of fact knowing that a person paying you money will rely on that statement, and you either knew, or should have known the statement was false, you have commited fraud. Caps must be lifted BY the next publish, not in the next publish, it must be before the next publish or that statement was false.
It is amazing when you look through dev statements in MMORPG forums how many actionable statements there are...

Even if that number is 1.
that is technically true
lift from 10 to 11
solutions to address
1. The devs suggest that we join up with other cities (that is one solution)
2. take over another city (not sure if the dev had this in mind)
3. hostile take over and rebuilt (take over one.. destroy it and build yours... timing have to be perfect)
One thing everyone needs to consider is that what you are quoting is old. Old in the MMOG business is anything past 2 days ![]()
The "new" one pretty much takes the "old" one and says "Umm... maybe we messed up and caps need to stay."
Take a look at the statement about Urban Sprawl. What that says (and any MMOG vet knows) is that now they can keep the caps and tell us that it is for the good of the game.... Do you honestly want to walk through nothing but houses while adventuring? That is pretty much what they are saying now. Is that bad? Depends on your view....
hehe.. I made a post on another thread...
there are people who want a city.. and there are people who want their "pre-plan" planet...
it comes down to.. which you want more.. I have a PA who would join us but they want to start in naboo (which probably be the hardest that planet fill up FAST)

I agree. I have this picture in my head of my ideal city... then I have the real thing
We are trying to make the ideal one, but reality has a bad habit of being a grief player ![]()

Right, I agree that devs in the MMORPG world change their minds constantly and always say this is a "dynamic world," etc. My point is that they shouldn't be doing that. They should always couch their remarks carefully and not make unambiguous statements of fact, such as "we will lift the caps." Because if you say something like that and you don't lift the caps, you are exposed to potential liability...
And I agree with the other poster that just lifting the caps by 1 would be sufficient to make the statement true, so long as if pressed they could establish a technical justification for only lifting the cap by 1.
