Um, actually, note that a level 3 city is required to have any specialization at all, and a level 3 city costs (if I recall right) 80k to maintain. So it doesn't, in fact, cost more than city hall.

Fees are not overpriced, especially with all the billions of credits on the server.

The billions of credits are centered around crafters... cities are not all crafters, some cities don't have any.

The fees are in fact way too high. Some players may have millions of credits, but many have very little at all. This new money sink that has been added does not affect everyone the same way and is unfair to part time gamers.

I don't see how costs averaging about 2000 credits a week per capita (which is about what these cost for a level 3 city, which as I noted above, is the minimum needed for specializations) are insanely high. Let's look at the cloning center specialization: if I die three times in a week and I'm in a 35 player city, I'm paid back with the amount of stuff I carry.

The improved job market cost is paid back in that same city after one 10k credit mission!

These costs are not too high, when you consider the number of people they're spread across.

Umm Research gives all crafters a +15% to ALL experiment.. 80K is tiny compared to the money that can be made selling weapons/armor etc that is 15% better than any normal crafter.

Took the words right out of my mouth Silent. 80k is that the price per hour? or just a one time price, cause thats not very much at all if its only 80k once.

The reference to the 80k is in regards to the WEEKLY Maint. Fees. Civic buildings don't have hoursly maint fees, but instead use a WEEKLY maint pull. The same can be said for the "wealth tax" or income tax. It withdraws from the citizens bank acount, the % you set as a mayor, once per week. The property tax IS taken out on an hourly basis, as houses maint fees are set to the hourly schedule.

I believe I have this correctly. If I'm interpreting this incorrectly, lemme know.

Thanks

And those cities will fail or need to be continually subsidized.

Ok I was looking through the additional changes, +5 more people I can adapt to, 80k for research center????? Excuse me, this is a skill grant, gained by being voted mayor consistantly. Charging 80k or more for special priveledges, that I have to work up for by working with the players and keeping things working, is just plain nuts.

I could find 10k reasonable, so would the artisans of the city, but the general population is not going to fork over the extra 80k or more just for a 15% bonus, that will not effect them.

We already figured that citys were the money sink from hell,However, this is way over the top.

A lot of maintenance things are overpriced in my opinion. If you can't afford it, don't get it

I'm amazed that it costs more than the City Hall... the very foundation of the city! And that it generates no revenue.

Looks like you'll have to have a city of 500+ to support something with the services of Anchorhead, which is little more than a pimple on the butt-end of Tatooine.
