OK I keep reading about groups that havne't been able to put down a city hall on naboo or whatever. Well here's a novel idea. Just run on down to someone elses city hall with your buddies and plop down a few houses. Then when it comes time to vote take the old mayor out of office.

It happened to our group. We have a stay at home mom that droped the City Hall out in a nice spot on corellia. Then we we all got on after work another guild had put down 14 houses right beside our hall. They are going to vote us out, destry the hall, and then go plop their's down.

That process is entirely possible and is considered a 'feature' in the game. However, with the weekly city update cycle and limited zone, most guilds using a good system of deploying structures should be able to prevent such an occurance from happening until the cities get larger...

all you have to do is make sure your zoning laws are enabled and no one can build in your city without your permission, this is what i have been forced to do in an effort to keep the bigangry PA's from taking over my guild free/open city.

Also you need to make sure you have less than 15 citizens in the 150 radius if the opposing group has built houses in the area right around that limit.

I don't really see the advantage of a big guild doing this though - they would only gain a week or two over the time when the cap will be lifted (first part of december). And besides that, it is pretty obvious that the cap is going to be lifted soon - TH already alluded to that possibility - and given the outcry over the caps and the lack of lag in existing player cities, there is no reason not to lift the caps....

Dont disregard the fact that some people arent really interested in the city itself, they simply want to grief (it's how they get their kicks).

You guys should've enabled zoning rights

One way to outmanouve these guys is to get another city hall deed. Then when none of those city stealers are around you destroy your city hall and place a new one a bit further away (150+ away from the hostile houses) and immediately enable zoning rights.

Maybe I am missunderstanding you...

but it sounds as though you are unhappy about another group greifing you.... so you are saying it should also be done to others? I dont follow your logic.

If you are unhappy about this happening, you should be telling other groups NOT to do it shouldn't you?

You must be on Bloodfin. That's us. We're not griefing you, were playing politics. Mere minutes before we were preared to place in the city we had been laying out for months, a city hall was placed just outside our borders, by people who we had never seen before. So we moved our houses over to your city, and I ran for mayor. Then you guys folded camp and laid a new Hall elsewhere on planet. You still win, we still lose.

Have your people move out and raise taxes super-high and then steal the money right before you destory the City Hall...

Heh. Player Cities in SWG are going to cause more anxiety probably than other aspect of any MMPORPG. I'd be surprised to learn if there is one city that doesn't end up in complete turmoil.

You must have read me wrong. I was not complaining, nor am I upset. Actually I'm not totally involved with those guys anyway. Still trying to figure some things out. But anyway, I was just pointing out that the whole point of the politician is to run for an office. It is your right to go out and do this. I think it's a great idea. It sucks that SOE only had a limited amount of spaces available, but that's life and we move on.

I personally think it's a bit silly that people are fighting so much over this, but I can understand where they are coming from. Basically I just want a shuttle port within about 1500m of my residence. If another guild is the mayor of that town who really cares. Now some of my mates and some of you guys may disagree with that point, or perhaps I don't quite understand the extent of the mayor's powers.

Lastly, bim_azul there are no hard feelings from me towards you guys. I was meerly pointing out an interesting aspect of the game. I wish there were more things that were this exciting, grinding is getting a bit boring.

We're frustrated, but we realize the fault is entirely our own. We did not have all the resources we needed to make the city hall. We accept that. We were merely protecting our location. I would have been more then happy to have had a joint city, but forces on both sides of the coin seemed against it.

As it stands, I'll be finding another city where a few friends and I will live and suck off Politician XP with a handfull of votes while we wait for the cap to be lifted.
