Thread: Devs! Jaspor Chooses to Cheat
So Jaspor, I see you have chosen to cheat by locking the door on your city hall, using a known exploit, and expanding anyway. Well this puts us inside your city walls now. We are now citizens, and I am very disappointed in you, stepping outside the rules of the game; That shows very poor character in my mind. What we have done in siegeing your city is completely within the design remit of the city set up. What you are attempting through cheating is to set up a city which is unattackable; you are effectively ruining the city aspect of the game by being a care bear. You are making a mockery of the GCW and now you have forced us to change our semi-friendly policy towards your City of Constellation to the West of Moenia on the Chilastra server. Now we have no choice but to up the anti.
From now on, ouraim is your total destruction. When this exploit is removed as it surely will be within the next few days or week, we will run our mayor against yours; we will out vote you; replace you and then destroyyou.
I had hoped to avoid this level of confrontation with you and your members, but nowwe have no choice.
Jaspor Ihave to tell you; that cheating is never a good policy in the long term. I am sure it is making you smile now, but ultimately you are only ever cheating yourself when you use cheats to gain something, youbecome a criminal effectively. Of course only in game; but in game is a microcosm of out of game. And just as happensout ofgame, when you commit a crime, you will have to pay the penalty.
That or he got the Dictator tree instead of the Politician one. Maybe its like the force sensitive slot and only certain players get it.
Seriously that is lame. We are politicians. Werole play our characters. We live the life of someone whos role it is to make our citizens happy. For someone to do this is just lame and uncalled for. And really where does it get you? Since in the end you going to get voted out as soon as this is removed from city halls.
Player City Guide
A new mayor is elected on a weekly basis, starting from the point the city is first placed. At the city voting terminal, citizens can vote for registered candidates. If a citizen has the Novice Politician skill, they can register for the vote. At the end of the week, the citizen with the most votes is elected mayor. Elections are not based on a majority or quorum vote rule: i.e., if there are 10 people running and 8 of them have 1 vote and 1 of them has 2 votes, the person with 2 votes would win.
When a new mayor is elected, the old mayor loses all of their mayoral powers. Both the new mayor and the old mayor should receive emails notifying them of what has happened. All citizen votes default to the incumbent mayor.
At what point does it say that you can use a slash command to lock the City Hall and allow no one to vote. I understand the Galactic Civil war and the Fight for the running of a city but Cheaping using an exploited command now that is way outside the scope of a game.
I understand where both parties are coming from-
Party One is doing hostile take-over of the city (which is how thePBCs were designed, since in RL, people move in and vote mayors out)and Party Two doesnt want all of his hard earned work to go to waste.
I fell bad for both parties in this case, but cant side with either one.
I don't agree with the tactics on either side.
What makes everyone think that you have a right to take over a city that a group of people worked very hard to create and spent the credits and tons of resources in making. It's as if we just moved next door to your large house and it and everything inside of it will be mine if I go in and claim Im the admin and enough peope agree with me.
If cities are meant to be so open to being taken over by just anyone then the devs need to give the items away for free.
It sounds to me that the people who built outside the city waiting for it to expand aren't so much wanting to be a part of a city as they are just trying to take a city because they couldn't build one themself. This is against the intent of the mayoral race as well. Its intent is to allow for a democratic process for the citizens in a city who enjoy the city life and living in that city. These people trying to take over for their own bitter and egotistical needs are the definition of griefers.
Now on the other hand a mayor should welcome all citizens to his city and explain the benefits of keeping one person as mayor for the first 4 weeks of a city and explain to them why he makes a good Mayor and they should vote for him. The problem with this may be that the people who are new citizens may not be the type who care and those griefer types who just want to ruin other peoples playing time, or are bitter about losing out on their city.
Unfortunately nothing much can and will be done about this on either side. The griefers will claim it is within their rights to do this because the game allows it, and those trying to keep people out who may not vote for them will claim they are only being griefed and they are breaking the rules to keep out those warping the rules for their own means.
It's a double edged sword with a handle made of razorblades and you're all bound to get cut.
Muhahaha, don't you realize that a mayor is all powerful while in office. Its quite simple he sets the tax to 50% and pays back his friends while he keeps you out by making the city hall private or placing a fountain or statue over the ballot box so you can't access itand thenhe trains under milita and /ban and /warn everyone of you. Then once the Devs decide to fix the city hallprivacy and being able to block the ballot box with furniture all he has to do is destroy the city hall before the hot fix day when no one is on and goes far away with all his friends and place it with out you guys knowing. Oh and all the money he made from over taxing you would now be in his pocket.
Its simple either you can take on a politican the real way by putting someone else and basing the decision on their policies or you can use mean tactics forcing the politican to do the same.

Mayor of New Aldera
Those / commands will be removed and Jaspor will find he's made more enemies than friends. He won't be able to keep people out of City Hall and they will vote him out of office.
It will be said of Jaspor that Diplomacy wasn't his strength.
There is Never justification to Exploitation!
CoC is an Imperial city slap bang in the middle of the rebel capital on Naboo; ie Moenia. We are siegeing his city because we are a rebel PA and his is an Imperial PA. Within the GCW they have effectively invaded an area inhabited by atleast 10 rebel PAs. And you think they should live a peaceful life?
Hell if you wanted a peaceful life, would you move to Baghdad? I think not!
Not only that, but he is also within 1km away from our own city location; so he represents a trade conflict with us as well.
Now it is absolutely right that we were upset at not getting our city hall down; but we told Jaspor from the start that we never wanted to take his city from him. We realised that if we camped around the perimeter, he would not expand due to the enormous risk of us outvoting him; which with 3 PAs would not have been a problem for us. Our aim was to prevent his city growth until it was at the same level as our own.
Within the context of gameplay this was our only sensible course of action. THere is a war on. This is not a holiday resort!
This would have succeeded if he hadnt chosen to cheat by using this exploit. Now he has made us mad; as all exploiters do; and as such when the exploit is lifted, we will strike, and it wont be pretty.
The guy using an exploit is obviously doing something he shouldn't be. However, the original poster is a tool. This sounds like some kid that is all pissed off because he didn't get his city built where he wanted. So in retalliation he decides to grief the current mayor a residents of the city. I would agree to taxing the hell out of them all for the duration of the time left and disband the city.
