Politician Archive
Thread: Number of Politicians...Its going to be more rare then Jedi.
Ok, someone didnt think about this it seems. Not only is this cap of cities totally outrageous, and I'm not even going to cover that here, its being done elsewhere.
BUT ....
Limiting the cities limits the number of politicians. Ok lets do some math together eh?
Corellia -- city limit 10 -- So 10 starting mayors...lets say 4-5 people actually have a chance to win an election besides the original mayor...this would MAYBE happen in some of the larger cities...so now we have maybe 10-15 Politicians on a major planet...
So if we are lucky we are going to see what 100 total per server?? (rough guess)
OK, this is NOT what I signed up for when I dropped a ton of points today to get politician.
I'm seeing a class action lawsuit in the making.

your kidding right
See here's the catch though liek you even said "OK, this is NOT what I signed up for when I dropped a ton of points today to get politician." You dropped them..SOE didn't make you. You just assumed it would be one way when they said nothing really about it.
First off, I never threatened I'd file , but I think they are setting themselves up for a fall here...there have been lawsuits in the online gaming industry before, both EQ and UO have hadto deal with them. Don't believe me? Look it up....
Simple fact is this - most of the player cities were placed by large PA groups, they had all the parts ready to go, they logged in a placed cities like mad. Fine, cool, but were does that leave anyone working, or at school? I'm sorry but most people can't take a day off because its a patch day...When you cap anything you cap the number of people that can participate.
Do you think anyone really can go into a set up PA run town and win an election? Not really likely...get a clue.
Its going to be 1 politician per city, sure maybe in a few cases more...but mostly 1 to 1.
So, to sum it up..... TOUGH LUCK
Now stop whining.
i don't think his post is going to help him get elected anywhere. See, that's the whole key. Everyone on every server can be a politician, just stop by your local planet capitol. The trick is to convince the people of the city you are a better choice for mayor than who ever is currently serving. Most people will want some one who'll guide the city efficiently at the lowest cost, not someone who'll threaten to sue them for not voting for him. And btw, Sony is a billion dollar company. They have lawyers too.
My god...its amazing to me what people think.
Do the math -- a good 90% of these cities are PA controled, do you think anyone has a chance to win an election?
Hell our Citywas going topretty much PA controled too, though we have many non "guild" neighbors that supported the city plans, and the plans of the mayor. We've had a "city" of sorts for 2 months, and while is not "official" its well thought out, and a nice place to hang out.
I'm not avocating 100's of cities per planet...but 10 on a planet like Corellia is stupid. Yes, there are still free"city lots" on some servers, some planets -- but not ours...within 30 mins of startup it was over for us.
I spent some time in a player run city tonight, 15 citizens, all 1 guild. Great guys, no taxes at all...The guild is covering the costs of the city hall...and are planning to continue....Tell me revisoHT what are the issues anyone is going to run on?
The only way to get exp is get votes, only way to get votes is in an election..when the population is 100%one guild, who's going to vote for anyone new? The only solution is letting more cities pop up, then MAYBE amid level politican from another planet might have the exp to make a decent run for office.
I'm not trying to retract anything -- its stupid moves like this, that are going to get SWG in lawsuits. You know what ,I'm not saying that anyone would win a lawsuit, but stuff like this leads to action.
My WHOLE point in posting this was simple - wait for the next player metrics to come out...Politician will be right at the bottom.
