Thread: Do Defense Mods from Teqniques Tree Actually Work
Hello,
Please forgive me if this question has already been answered, but try as I might I could not find a definate answer. Also, my English is not very good so please excuse me as this is my friend's log-on and I am still studying English at the University.
If there is someone who could please tell me if the Defensive bonuses from the Techniques Tree are actually working or not I would really appreciate it. You are supposed to get bonues against being knockdown, dizzyed, stunned, or blinded when you have that branch, but yet they do not seem to help me very much in that regard.
Someone told me that this is a 'bug', and that the bonuses were not working correctly, so no protection is offered against those things. Can someone please either give me a yes or no answer about this? Thank you very much and most politely for your time.
They basically don't work right now. Take a look at Jaegen's sticky post for his explanation of why the "Defense vs." modifiers don't do anything. Dodge seems to work at most 3-5% of the time fora Master against unskilled opponents.
The Devs responded to our concerns on this issue. Check Dev Tracker for posts about a week ago to a thread called "PISTOLEER".
Hope this is helpful.
lets assume the defence mods start working. so then will a +20 skill mod against dizzy mean that we are 20% less likely to get dizzzy or will the repurcusions of being dizzy be reduced by 20% or neither of these two.
I think the first one but the real answer is that we don't know.
Right now they don't really work and even if they did, the ones like dizzy wouldn't be useful. Let me explain why ... usually when I'm being attacked in PvP or PvE by an enemy that has a dizzy attack, the enemy is spamming that attack at me. So let's say a Bounty Hunter is spamming Confusion Shot at me ... even if one dizzy misses because of the "defense" it doesn't really help me because as long as he lands one I'll be dizzy for the next few minutes.
So none of the lasting state effect defenses (stun, dizzy, etc) are worth a darn.
The bottom line is not to get too excited about these because they don't work and we're not sure how they will. ![]()
