You mean the part about the 275,000 boxes sold at $50 a pop, and the similar number of subscribers? Or do you mean the part where is boss ALREADY promoted him to be Chief Creative Officer for all of SonyOnline Entertainment?

The boxes sold because they say Star Wars on them. The people that are frustrated and have quit or are debating quitting is what Ralph Koster deserves credit for.

For every rant filled emotional "I quit" post that pops on on these boards, another person grabs that star wars box at the local EB and brings it home. In fact given the fact that each press release is claiming a higher number of subscribers, I'd say it's more than one person buying the box for every person that leaves. That's all Raph's boss (Good old Smedley of EQ fame) really cares about. Raph is making SOE a buttload of money.

Numbers wise his performance looks great so far, and the cha-ching of the cash registers is going to be much louder than some rude trolls throwing insults around on the board (and certainly MUCH louder than any logical, calmly written, discussions of what needs to be fixed).
What the upper management doesn't realize is the number of people that have every intention of leaving a soon as they have another opportunity, which means as soon as they get into beta for Horizons, EQ2, WoW, Darkfall, ME, etc...

They could write Star Wars on a box with anything in it and it would sell. This boob doesn't deserve any credit for it.

It sold 275,000 copies because it's calld Star Wars Galaxies.
I could get 275,00 people to pay me $50 to punch them in the face so long as I called it Star Wars punch in the face, and promised that in a year or so someone will figure out how to be Force Sensetive.
George Lucas deserves the promotion here, Star Wars anything will sell 275k units, that doesn't mean this game isn't poorly done, it just means that there's a shiny yellow Star Wars tittle on it.
