the druid cannot tank the giant but the warrior and SK can, the warrior and SK cannot sow but the druid can, the Wizard is the only class that can port you to Plane of Hate, but any porter can get you out of there, the magician can make you armor and weapons for your pet, but he can't tank the mob he has a pet to do that,

the Shaman can make any warrior super man and the cleric can keep him alive,

not everyone can do everything no single class in EQ can solo successfuly beyond 54 or 55 they MUST have others

in this game I chose pistoleer without research into 'nerfs' comparisons' or plain old bugged skills. this class is SOLO written all over it. in fact I have not seen any class more able to do this then Pistoleer. I am way to top of marsksmanship column and have not even worked for disarm , stopping, or doubletap shots a pistoleer should be accurate before he gets special skills. I will be a pistoleer to the top anyway I can and I will not cry about BH, smuggler, etc

this is like EQ in one sense

no one can do everything

Being a druid on EQ for 3 years, I can pretty much tell you that 51+, even with PoP, grouping exp is much faster, even tho I tended to solo alot.

It's actually funny tho that my kiting skills I learned in EQ helps me in SWG at times.

I'm 2-1-2-1 in the pistoleer tree, along with 4-4 in medic, and master scout. Many things I can't solo, but there's some I can. I just need a wide open area (or mobs that aren't social) and I can do it.

I was a 65 Necromancer on Karana, and I soloed all the way to 65 also grinding 60 AA points. I could kill any mob or2 or 3as long as theywere snarable and didn't summon.

Only time I really grouped was on big raids, andalso to help non-solo friends get XP..

I know this wasn't the point of this post, only wanted to make sure correct info was conveyed.

Ahh more BUNk..EQ bunk, but bunk none the less...

I played a shaman in eq - I solo'd almost exclusively from 56th-60th..I was still soloing at 61st when I quit..I knew tons of soloing 60th+ wizards, druids, shadowknights, paladins, rangers, enchanters, bards and even a cleric/mage or two - the only classes that did not/were not capable of regularly soloing were rogues and warriors..and even there some of them did.

In SWG currently, even exempting the grouping bugs (invis, looting, chat, etc) there is little reason for the average player to group..there is little reason to even TRY harder critters..as in nearly every MMORPG the best ratio of time vs exp gain can be found "grinding" the best exp critter you can easily kill quickly.

Even when you group to take down Jedi, Krayts whatever - it is little more than a damage spam zerg and all that is really required to do it is sufficient damage dealers of any type and some medics/docs.

As for solo capabilities, basically every "advanced" combat classis (or soon will be)roughly equal. Most people soloing "tough" crittersare using Warning shot, Suppression fire, KDs and traps to reduce damage while stimpacking themselves to stay active and either bleed the target down or spam a specific pool targetted shot until the target goes down.

Any good player can solo almost every mob in this game, as long as they are using ranged weapon (no melee, sorry).

This has nothing to do with Pistoleer. If you think we have some exciting advantage in soloing over carbine and rifle, I'd like to hear it.

You might want to read the sticky posts and some of the other posts on the forum before choosing Pistoleer, so you're not disappointed down the road. Unlike other online games, SWG isn't balanced (at least yet) and some classes are gimped (TKA, Commando until the next patch, etc) while others have a large advantage. Pistoleers are definitely a big step above the truly gimped folks, but we are at a clear disadvantage compared to the other ranged combat classes.

Being a lvl 63 Shadowknight with 52 aa points on the Tallon Zek server when I quit about 7 months ago, You could easily solo a MoB that would give you xp. Granted you couldn't solo the mobs you wanted to for the phat lewts, but if you were only interested in grinding lvl xp or AA xp. It was really easy

I was a level 65 enchanter. My solo exp was higher by a faction of 3 or so rather than grouping...the only time I owuld group was to powerlevel another. But yeah...that is another story...a pistoleer can't heal, a pistoleer can't go toe to toe with a mob, a pistoleer can't make anything.

However anyone that can do those things can also choose to be a pistoleer. It is the nature of SWG to allow people to choose several different skills.
