I chose pistoleer because I liked them from a roleplaying standpoint. It didn't matter to me how powerful they were.. they'll probably get fixed eventually.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum! I play a Wookiee, Kittybacca, on the Lowca server. Where I am right now, I'm at a bit of a crossroads. Where I am right now:

Brawler: Expert Unarmed, about 40% to Specialist.

Scout: Explorer 4, Hunting 2, Survival 2

Medic: Diag 2, First Aid 3, Pharm 3, Organic Chem 3, on the way to Organic Chem 4.

Marksman: Master Marksman

Novice Pistoleer

I'm very indecisive, and someone had recommended the Pistoleer tree, so I thought I'd give it a try. But after getting Novice and discovering this forum and the descriptions of all Special Attacks, I'm wondering if I'm making the right choice.

Why should I choose Pistoleer? Why did you choose Pistoleer? From what I'm reading, it seems like the Profession has some okay special attacks....but that the Profession itself is nothing special. What do I mean by that? Well my other two prime choices are: Commando or Bounty Hunter.

Commando can take out AT-STs and have the heavier weapons, at least once they're fixed? And Bounty Hunter....well, instead of just trading shots, Bounty Hunter can knock you down, dizzy you so you can't get up, Blind you....etc. Pistoleer...we can't do any of that. We just trade fire and hope we win in the end, right?

Please, I'm not trying to bash Pistoleer...I'm just really not sure what I want to do right now, and I thought the best way to figure it out would be to hear from other Pistoleers to hear their opinion on the matter and find out why they like (or dislike) the profession.

I would go for BH at this point since your working on scout and Marksman.

I can tell you im master Pistoleer and i dont much feel like one. Hell Mutli Target never works for me. and Disarm shot 2 never does what anyone says in the forum.. i feel broke lol

You can also opt to combine pistoleer with smuggler pistol line, since you're almost done with unarmed as well.

You can really tweak your character to your playstyle using pistoleer/smuggler/scout/medic. It'd throw in TKA but right now added defense seems pointless.

If your goal it to get into PvP quick and to be effective, BH pistol 4 is the fast track, you'd probably never look back, but it is expensive.

Anyway, I really do think making a decision is even harder, because we don't know what pistoleers, or any profession will be like, in the coming months. We DO suspect there will be some pretty significant changes, to combat in general, and to pistoleers (Disarm, BS3, defense working, etc).

Jaegen thats great to hear. You lead the front in the fight. You should get a big round. Of appluas.e.. lol stupid wheel mouse erased the whole long message of accolade I had for you... and be it late, that may be a good thing as I am typing with ym eyes closed...

So yeah. Everythign everyone said. Pistoleer also has more style I think. And it's great with smuggler line. Although thtats a lotta skill points to go smuggler. Anyways... I dont have a point arg just see the changes. Even with no Pistoleer knockdown, if everything else is fixed that Jaegen's mentioned the past weeks I am happy with a couple thousand pistoleers. Bed time!!!

First off, thanks to everyone who's responded to this. I tried replying earlier, but the system went down or something and I lost it. Sigh.

Anyways, I'm still Novice Pistoleer but I've not decided what I'm going to do. I've moved up a bit of the way on the Scout tree in preparation of going to Bounty Hunter, but I'm not sure if I'm going to. From what I've heard or has been suggested, Bounty Hunter is going to get nerfed......and then here, we're already bugged and going to be nerfed.

Oh well, decisions, decisions. I've got no clue what I'm going to do just yet....I think I'm going to keep working on the Scout tree in preparation of BH. I still need 10K combat experience, and maybe by the time I'm ready for Bounty Hunter, a new patch will have been released and with the changes I'll have a better idea of what to do.
