I don't have Fan Shot yet (about 100k pistol exp away). I've heard it has lesser damage but also a faster delay than stopping shot... well all I can say is it had better be a heck of a lot faster. In fact, if it doesn't have a delay darn close to Body Shot 2, I don't think it will be worth using. Which shot is more useful? Or is it reccomended that you use a mix of both?

Frankly the thought that a Marksman skill is even compared to a tier 4 elite profession skill disgusts me.

It's very situational now. Since fan shot is now an AE attack you have to be very careful when you use it. All the delay and damage mods are in the FAQ stuck to the top of this forum, though. Fanshot became AE, but the dmg mod is still 4, and delay mod 2.4

Stopping shot is 4.0 delay mod, 5.0 dmg mod. Fanshot is far superior in raw damage to any other pistol move, unless you hit the speed cap. But it's random pool, and area effect.

Bodyshot2 won't hold a candle. Heck if you hadn't noticed already bodyshot2 doesnt hold much up to ROLLSHOT. rollshot is random pool but generally would take less overall ham to kill something with it, because of the increased DPS and pistols generally hit health anyway.

Fanshot is a heck of a lot faster than stopping shot.

The brainy guys argue that BS2, or BS3 if you're speed capped, are still slightly more efficient than fanshot or stopping shot at brining down a mob. but the difference is fairly slight.

As mentioned, Fanshot is now area attack, so it's really great if you have an angry group.

I just picked up fan shot last night and I was really surprised by the speed/dmg. Sure, less dmg but it's pretty fast, much faster than ss. I was using hs1/2 to start the bleeds, fan shot for max damage per second then bs2 to finish off the health and the mob. Occasionally I'll run in and pistol whip the mob to give my pet and the bleed time to work -but this can be risky. I was poisoned by voritor dashers last night trying to do this....good thing though, no wounds from the poison, just damage.

A lot changes at master pistoleer if you have a decently fast pistol.

Stoppingshot is now better than fanshot. Bodyshot3 is now better than bodyshot2. In PvP, you can use stoppingshot for massive random pool damage, fanshot for area damage, and bodyshot3 against nonmedics and people with low health. Using stoppingshot vs bodyshot3, or at lower levels fanshot versus bodyshot2, is really up to the individual person. Bodyshot against a nonhealer is better. Even against some healers, bodyshot is better. But mind damage is king in PvP.

Just yesterday, I dueled twice against a wookiee BH pistol 4/pistoleer, who said that he never lost a PvP duel before and had a 300-0 record or something like that. First duel, we both traded stoppingshots and my armor versus his poor wookiee fur left him dead really quickly. Second duel, he spammed eyeshot. He was winning until I landed a 900 stoppingshot on his mind pool. Bodyshot just can't do that.
