Pistoleer Archive
Thread: My two cents...
I have heard some say that pistoleeris too powerful. I run two accounts simultaneously though and I dissagree. The first is a pistoleer and the second is a rifleman. I also played a carbineer in beta about halfway through the master carbineer tree. Over the duration of a battle, a Rifleman does -at least- twice as much damage as the pistoleer. The carbineer does incredible damage as well.
The rifleman's place on the battlefield is different than that of a pistoleer. The rifleman shouldnt be at the front of the battle, but rather at the rear in prone. My point here is that each gun has a different place. As a Pistoleer, I can shoot from a ranged distance, but I'm hitting at a fraction of the damage that the rifleman is.
It isnt that knockdown needs nerfed, its just that the defences against knockdown need love. Knockdown is a part of the game that the designers intentionally put there. It is working as it should. Personally I would like to see some sort of modifier for resistance based on the sheer size of the target. Humanoids should be a heck of a lot easier to knock down than rontos. This is just an idea though that is driving at my point. Resistances need twinking, not the knockdown skill itself. In fact, I think Pistol Melee Defence 2 shouldalsoknockdown incoporated into it either with a longer knockdowntime or more damage than Pistol Melee Defence 1.
Also, I hope that SOE/Verant will continue to twink these balance issues between the classes gradually. A knee jerk reaction that makes my avatar worthless and would lessen my gaming experience dramatically. When you consider the time investment involved in developing these skills, the arguement "that I can throw them away and pick up newskills" is hardly valid.
Ok, we know Holocrons are for FS people, not for us to become FS (with the drop rates now we would all be Jedi in three weeks). So has anyone tried to do this. All of our trees for the different professions have the skill boxes. Each skill starts with a letter, for example Business I, Managment I, etc. So has anyone tried to spell "May the force be with you", using the first letters on all the skill boxes?
Secondly, Jedi's train each other, so is it tied to our apprentice xp? Should we simply stand outside the Star Port and train people?
The Devs stated that it was something simple, these are both simple and something we would not normally think of.
Read Q3PO's post.. he said the new holocrons that will be dropping will offer NON-FS characters hints for unlocking the JEDI slot...
why are people having such a hard time understanding that FSCS = JEDI. you cant be anything but a jedi with this slot.
Has anyone entertained the possibility that it only wants you to master any profession and the message is random? This would explain a 2nd holocron giving you an alternate profession to master. Maybe there is no "equation." Maybe the holocrons do nothing but tell you to master something, anything, because without mastering anything, you cannot unlock a force slot. Just my opinion. It seems pretty rediculous to me that mastering and then surrendering is part of the process. What's the point?
