Thread: Jaegen: What is your opinion on Intimidate state effect for DisarmingShot?

I think that applying the intimidate state effect would be

  • Useful enough for pistoleers to actually use in combat

  • Fairly simple to code (or so it seems)

  • Actually faithful to the actual act of disarming (see below).

If disarming shot only did damage and then caused your weapon to land on the inventory, a toolbar button press is all you need to totally mitigate this attack.

However, if +Intimidate+ were applied, their damage per second rating drops. This accurately simulates the effects of fumbling around for your weapon for a few seconds after the pistoleer knocked your weapon out.

This would also actually do something about Pistoleers and our so-called defensive minded skill trees. Intimidate works.

What's your impression? I think area effect intimidate as a Master level skill is quite unique and very worth working for.

Jaegen included the Intimidate idea in his last correspondent's report, and listed it for Holo in that last thread.

I know he is VERY high on that idea ... although at this point we'll take what we can get. LOL

Based on what I know of Intimidate, that seems like a good idea to me as well.

That sounds very cool to me. Disarm 2, at master, causing an AOE -intimidate- would give me the impression of my shot striking an opponents weapon, and causing the enemies nearby to give a collective "oooohh!" and thereby be intimidated.

That doesn't seem like we are asking for too much, although it is nothing compared to the AOE ranged knockdown we lost. ( please don't say it was never meant to do that, if they put it in the game, then it was meant to be in the game as far as i'm concerned )

- I give SWG 15 bucks a month, they should give me something -

Intimidate is okay, but really I much prefer the grief option.

Well, considering I'm the one that snuck it in there, I must think it's pretty OK

I like it, if it's popular, let's push for it, but the orignal posts on the subject, no one really pushed for something like this, so I didnt want to abuse the role, and I just listed out the suggestions.

I think combat-wise, it would be the most effective. I think it is also one of the least "snazzy" in terms of what it does, so might not be popular.

Grief shot will suck IMO, for everyone.

I prefer the intimidate because it makes the ability useful in both PVE and PVP (do any other ranged profs do intimidate?)

And please refresh me here...what exactly does intimidate do (numbers wise.)

Lowers the opponent's damage and to-hit considerably. Jaegen probably knows the exact numbers, but that's the general idea.

As a smuggler, when I trained unarmed, I would intimidate on every fight. I don't know what the exact effect is but its a fairly dramatic decrease in the intimidated opponent's offensive capabilities.
