I am just getting into a second character (non-artisan)- tried Rifle up to III and decided I wanted to be a Smuggler. Now working my way up Unarmed and Pistol. Last night I trained Pistol II and went to buy DH17 since it was next up from a 44. I looked at the Action cost and it was 20 higher than the 44? Ended up buying a better DL44 Metal (30-131, 2.1). Why would I ever use a DH17 ? I am sure there is something I am missing. Can anyone clue me in on the whole Pistol progressionpro's and con'sfor someone never planning to advance beyond Pistol 4 ? At my level I am using the Bazaar since everything is still less than 3k.

Are you sure it was a DH17 pistol, not a DH17 Carbine?

I show a DL44 Metal having HAM costs around 11/33/11, and DH17s around 20/37/11.

Neither is as good as a Scout (11/22/11), but they're also not as bad as a DX2 (22/39/14) or SR Combat (27/43/15).

At Pistol II I'd recommend a Scout Blaster.

Thanks for the reply. The DL44 I bought was 11/31/11, 3?-130, 2.1, 12.1 wound. Also, I am pretty sure they were 17 Pistols I was looking at but who knows ? The HAM was 2?/51/1? and the damage/speed was crappy - maybe justsome experiments gone bad? I didn't know I could get a Scout Blaster at Pistol II - I guess I didn't scroll down far enough on my skills screen. Have to find a good Weaponsmith now I guess - this all helps. Thanks again.
