Making the floating damage numbers really big helps.

if you're just doing testing, using a slow weapon helps.

I can barely do it when I'm the only one firing at the mob. Add 2 group mates and 4 pets and it's hopeless.

They need filters for this, like a "Show only the damage I do above my opponents' heads".

i split my combat tab off into its own window

it's a lot easier to read this way, even with multiple group members fighting

I do the same, always use a combat window. My spatial is very minimal.

*Whats that you say? Sorry, I was killing something*

How do you guys read the numbers and states thatcome up oer enemy's heads? Mine are all right on top of each other and there's just no chance of ever reading them.

Of course I watch thecombat tab like a hawk - it's just I've seen a few suggestions here that say to "compare my combat window to the numbers over the enemy's head..." which are totally impossible to read. Making them bigger won't help any; the problem is they appear directly on top of each other.

I've tried to figure out a way to read the 'floating' numbers reliably too. I increased the font size to the max, and I agree that didn't help very much. Even when it's just me, my one pet and the mob, it's almost pointless to even try.

Note that the floating numbers is your real damage, which is your damage modified by armor piercing, armor level and resists. I have absolutely no idea why the SoE didn't have the numbers in the combat chat window show real damage, instead of the sometimes completely useless numbers displayed right now.

I would LOVE that. AC2 only showed the damage numbers for your character and for the creature attacking you. Anyone else attacking that creature wouldn't see your damage numbers and you wouldn't see theirs.

Granted when using a pistol with a speed less than 1.8 it's hard to read those numbers even when solo-ing!

A lot of times it doesn't matter what those numbers are if you have a window for combat chat open. If your opponent is vulnerable to heat damage and you're using an FWG5 then the #'s in the combat dialouge are the true damage you're doing. It's only when some of your damage is being absorbed by the enemies armor that seeing damage numbers is helpful.

I think you can look at numbers in the combat chat as the "Damage Output" of your attack. It can be useful to know this pre-armor value though. If you get jumped by a mob of creatures while you have your DX2 out, but after a few shots you notice that the numbers in the combat chat and the overhead numbers are different, then you'll remember that you didn't check your enemy's armor/vulnerabilities. Sure most of the time I remember to check that, but sometimes when I'm taken by surprise it will slip my mind.
