Thread: Pistoleer Special Abilities, New ones related to Holster
Well, I been thinking bout Holsters lately, and watching good old Westerns... And I thought, Wow... they dont carry their pistols around in their hands all the time, they have a holster... And what more, they draw the gun from it and start firing... Hmmm
Tada, Here it comes, Add a Holster, And Have starting specials that fire from the holster, Decent start of fight shot of some sort.... It can only be used at the beginning of a combat phase...
Like Novice Pistoleer gets Steady Draw... Which is pull it out, accurate health shot for twice the dammage of Body Shot 2... and up the Stances and Grips line, the Quick Draw box, they get, QUICK DRAW.... Fast attack that does random HAM dammage plus temporary speed bonus to the next three attacks....
And at master they get Draw Out.... A starting attack more powerful then stopping shot that is KD, but HIGHLY INNACURRATE AT LONG RANGE, this is a close range Duel move... It can only be used at the beginng of a combat, so it can be used to start the fight, not in the middle or if they attack first..
Gun Battles between Pistoleers would mean they would use their drawout move first, and the first one to use the Holster would prevent the other one from using a holster special to start... why, Because holster draw outs should only be used to Start Combat...
I dunno, what do you think? I think its better then DUAL Weild, and would give us a viable Pistoleer unique tree. We would be first strike types... Think of Westerns
Infact if you think about it, other classes should have things unique to them... Rifleman ought to have an exeedingly long range single attack for a combat phase *IE one per enemy* That's accuracy is increased via stance and range *you can hittem standing at +64, hittem kneeling at +78, hittem laying down at 100+* But only once...
Dunno what carbineers ought to have... Probably a shoot from the hip sorta thing... Faster rate of fire, small accuracy drag, but higher power of hit... Speed bonus, Accuracy minus, power bonus... make it like a sorta berserk...
Bounty Hunter should probably have something similar, perhaps something like PLAYER TRAPS... that ought to be unique to them, because Bounty HUNTER= Hence Traps... they might like that, but it would really have to come from them *not a bounty hunter, just a humble pistoleer*
I would like to see a lot of unique things per profession Which would make us useful... Not every class ought to be useful in the same way... So each class should have some VERY CLEAR distinctions for these sorta things
Any kind of holstering action, if it adds some sort of delay, is just going to put a disadvantage in over carrying the **edit** weapon in your hand.
If there was no added delay, but they were just opening round movies only, with twirly animations... that woudl be okay I guess. But i'd rather have moves that can be used whever. Twirly animations can be added to those if it would makes folks happy.
Though, if the DEVs do a combo system like their saying, the Pistoleer who gets the opening move can string two or three more shots into it... Thus making a very devestating attack... That is if he gets the jump on his opponent...
Maybe make a timer before a duel begins, like if someone accepts your duel, it says duel begins in 3-2-1... Begin! And if anyone does an attackcommand before that they get a 2 second delay *so for pistoleers it would really be a sorta quick draw, and not jumping the gun....* I like the idea, the thing is... I am not saying for now. I am saying for later...
What makes you think theres a delay? If your walking around with a gun slung and holstered, its readily accesible... There wouldn't be a delay, if you start combat normally, you just pull your pistol from the holster and fire normally... If you start it from a drawout, you do the draw out....
A Draw Out would give either a decent bonus on you... like Quick Draw would be next three combat commands will be performed a few seconds faster... Orsomething decent downside on your opponent... Or a targeted HAM Attack... To begin the combat round... Beginning just like normal combat, but with moves specifically designed for the beginning of combat... * Pistoleers would have some fun duels and gun fights like this*
Make Holsters an Item that could be crafted with a few bonuses to the related Draw Out-typeskills... Some Holsters would be designed more for a Quick Draw* speed related*, others a Steady Draw * Focused attack *, and others a Draw Out... * Total random stopping power with a decent status effect, note this would be a MASTER level attack*
It would add more depth to the universe, and help a little in immersion... Instead of seeing everyone walk around weapon in hand... Sheaths for swordsman, Slings for Carbineers...

And Second this isn't anything I want pushed for the next update or anything
I AM ALL FOR FIXING, leave needless flaming to yourself, if you dont agree with it, or can't add anything productive to the conversation, stay the heck out of it, you don't need to voice your opinion on something that isn't priority or going to effect YOU in anyway...
Fix first, but lets think of things we'd like to add too, some of us can dream can't we?
