I'm about 50,000xp from Novice pistoleer and I was hoping I could get some advice.

I've got an FWG5 sliced 65-248 dmg and 2.0 speed. I don't wear armor.

my questions are:

1. Is my current weapon good enough to carry me through the pistoleer profession.

2. Should I wear armor?

3. When will it get easier for me to take on big animals alone? It still seems like I'm overmatched sometimes.

4. Is there a planet that would be good for solo hunting while not being too hard?

I'll answer 1 and 2 as I am a grouper no a soloer.

1.) I suggest getting more than 1 gun. That is a good FWG5 but its best to carry one of each energy type available and check resists on mobs. That means FWG5, DX2, Tangle, Striker and Scout or SR Combat.\

2.) I do not wear armor. Unless it has a major rework I do not suggest wearing it except for PVP. Maybe as a soloer, but the M drain makes it very hard and gives long rest periods if you use the better armors.

i currently use a sliced DX2, the Arch Angel, and if its posible for a weapon to be your best friend then she is mine i think the only differenace is the DX2 does acid damage where your does energy damage. i dont know the stats off hand but its at least as good as yours but the speed is 2.7 i remeber that much

1. probably, you may want to get a DX2 at some point so you have a good weapon that does acid damage. im working on locating a better energy damage weapon as there are some creatures that are more valnerable to different damage types.

2. i dont, but ive been thinking about getting some, i have a few pannels that boost SL skills and i can use them on my clothes. at teh very least you should find yourself a personal shield generator, it takes teh place of your belt if you wear one, but you dont see it on your character.

3. not sure i only have a few pistol skills at the moment so i dont know what a master feels like

4. i started on corellia, in the kor vella area and did all my early training there. one earned pistoleeri moved to dantooine and did a lot of group hunting to earn the combate XP and Squad XP i needed. but if your looking for easy solo stuff id recomend the wilds of corellia.

I dont wear armour the encumbrance is too hard on me, I haven't PvPed enough to comment on the pros and cons of armour as I have just started doing it. I have 3 pistols that I use depending on the resists of the mobs im hammering. They are DX2, FWG5 and a Scout Blaster (Thanks Fatal-one). One thing to remember is the higher up the tree you are the harder your hits will be.

Oops as for planets ummm well I started on Naboo and then went to Corellia, don't go to Endor...very very scary hehe.

1. You're gun is good, you'll have no problems there. However, as DiLune said, get some more guns. I have 3 on me at all times...FWG5 (heat) DX2 (Acid) Scout (Energy). You'll be surprised about the difference it makes....for example Dune Banthas have 40% heat resist, so you want to leave your FWG5 in your inventory for those guys.

2. For PvE, no. For PvP, defintely.

3. As a pistoleer is not that easy, but you can use some tricks.

a)If you can, always open fire from max range with prone, as it will take a while for Mobs to lock onto to you and charge when you are prone.

b) hit tougher Mobs with Healthshot2 AND Healthshot1, they stack.

c) Use Pistolwhip and Warning shot to buy you time and space.

d) Hit "examine" on a mob before engaging, work out what its vulnerable too, and switch weapons accordingly.

e) Get some medic skills and good stims.

4. I like the dunes of Tatooine myself...Bantha variants and Desert Eopie's. The best XP comes from grouping only planets like Dantooine though.

the FWG5 looks good. it could maybe be made slightly faster, but it's good. like others said, you'll want to start collecting waepons of other damage types (energy, acid, even stun maybe).

torturs on talus and tortons on rori are pretty easy to kill. I also enjoyed killed cannibal dewbacks and larger bantha on tatooine (generallyaround jabba's place). Mountain squills are also good in that they're heat vulnerable, but they can hurt you quick.
