Thread: Fanshot weirdness

Apparantly someone worked out exactly what was happening. I had my suspicions earlier but this is the actual reason it seems.

In order for fanshot to do damage to someone other than your target they have to be engaged in combat. So, for example, if a group of mobs is all engaged in combat, you'll do damage with a fanshot to all of them. If you use fanshot to start combat, only your initial target will take damage and you'll just aggro the others without damaging them.

So the cone effect will aggro but not damage if combat isn't already in progress. This only appears to be in PvE however...PvP, from what I hear, doesn't have this problem. If you happen to have a pet/droid or are in a group, just let others engage first then start fan shoting and you'll never notice a problem.

Hopefully they'll clear this one up soon.

And you have to be quick to tab off the initial target onto one of the newly aggroed enemies, if you have managed to kill the initial mob with the first shot. If you stay targeted on a corpse, you won't even be firing but the others will be coming. Just keep tabbing among the mobs and using fan shot and you'll be hitting them all.

I noticed something odd with fan shot today.

I used it against creatures, and it was only hitting the one I happened to be targeting. The others didn't get hit. Tried it with multiple types. NPCs as well as creatures.

Rebels were not taking damage at all, the same were true with wrixes as well as huf duns.

This wasn't happening two days ago. But today, the fan shot wasn't doing what it was supposed to. Is anyone else experiencing this? I examined the combat log and creature HAM and both showed the same thing.
