Thread: Why must everyone master marksman for +5 speed?????

Speed has always been a hot topic since Jaegen figured it in with our FAQ.

Why must pistoleers, rifleman, and carbineers work their way up the other weapon trees simply to increase their speed with their chosen weapon? Thats an extra 34 skill points just to get +5 speed for your chosen ranged profession (providing you chose to go up the support tree)!

Does it not make more sense to work that +5 speed into its own ranged profession? If I want to become quicker with a pistol I wont pick up a rifle. This is just plain common sense.

Perhaps being a master with all firearms can give you a unique insight into effective use of a pistol.

I'll give you both Jaegon's and Samra's answer right now. Due to the fact that speed is an exponential increase and not linear (like EQ), those extra 5 points could mean the difference between either firing at the camp or firing below the cap. Take a T-21 for example with a 7.2 speed. At master rifleman, you can shoot at 1.8 seconds I believe and deliver 242 dps, while with those extra 5 speed points you fire at 1.0 seconds and deliver around 440dps (forgive me, I forgot the exact numbers, these are just ballpark).

Well i tell you i got it cuz im one of those dirty expert bh's with pistoleer

What i dont understand is its ok for pistoleers to after they master pistol go onto expert bh, but a experet bh that dables into pistoleer is a **edit**?????? i know not all of you think this but a lot of people do and i think who gives a crap? I mean i got fan shot and its not as good a torso shot........ so why do you guys complain about bh's using your skills. I dont frankly dont need to. But the ress to knockdowns etc are nice. And second a expert bh has gotten to the speed limit so again no point and we almost never miss. hum... The only reason im mastering pistoleer is cuz i want to master pistol and you have to have those to do it. So if you cant beat the(pvp) join them and get it yourself.

O and on another note i think a master pistoleer and a expert bh should get there own title for mastering pistol. just an idea.

As i lay awake im my bed at night, I gaze at the stars. Then i think to myself where the f*** did my roof go?

Because people who spend more points in combat areas are supposed to be more powerful. All master boxes deserve these types of bonuses. Being a master of a profession is the biggest investment and should have the payout for it.

Because it gives you a way, with effort, to further improve your skills. Much like going for Master Brawler enhances a Master TKA, going for Master Artisan helps a Master Weaponsmith, and so on, you always have the ability to gain a bit of extra edge by increasing your breadth of knowledge. In our case, it would mean going completely through the Support Lines and all of the weapon lines, you gain the title and skills of a Master Marksman, whose name alone should justify the additional speed.

I'd stand by Oak, Necro, and Zerona'sresponses.

Master Marksman gives you many things, one of which is better skill at using marksman weapons, of which pistols is certainly one of

I disagree. Just because the old philosophy people are using is, the more points you spend in combat the better you are. Fine. But it should make sense. Using a rifle or crabine wep to enhance my pistol speed is ridiculous. Anyone here a marsksman in RL? I am. I dont pick up a rifle to be better with a pistol.

If speed issues are going to be worked out, this should be part of it. Each classes +5 speed should be worked back into a role that actually supports their class.Using Pistoleer as an example, youcould take the five points and spread it out among the pistol tree in marksman and the special abilities tree and the Master Pistoleer spot. Thats 11 spots to distribute 5 points. That would slowly add to speed to your chosen weapon.

I dont se this idea as being radical, (havent made a single post yet asking for something that was) just as a way to redefine the way we spend skill points in support of our combat style and chosen weapon(s) line.

Again, common sense says you dont pick up a rifle to become better witha pistol. No matter how much time (points) you invest in it, you'll never get better with a pistol.

Thanks!

While futile to bring real life into play, but you're absolutely wrong in thinking that skill and experience in other weapons will not translate to a pistol.

wouldnt it be more realisitic to increase ranged damage by a lot and also decrease HAM costs of using all marksmen weapons?

I think its fine the way it is, but if someone thinks it should be changed, thats an idea

Not only that, but it's also probably best talked about on the marksman forum

I likely wont be pushing for marksman speed nerf any time soon...
