Hi, someone mentioned to me that you could get something like a vitality pack for weapons, is this right? What are my options for restoring lost vitality in my pistol?

cheers

Well, there are things called Weapon Repair Kits that you can buy, but there's a stipulation:

Weapon Repairing plays on the "repair" skill of the person using the kit. So, if you have none, the chance of borking your weapon is very high.

Best thing to do is take it to a Master Weaponsmith and pay them to repair it for you.

I thought the chances of success when repairing were baed entirely on the quality of the repair kit? There's a repair skill mod?

Haven't had a complete failure yet. Out of the last 10 or soI have repaired(mostly guns and one melee) I had one medium success where about 200 points were dropped from max durability. If your on starsider send me a tell either Luvi or Iwen Cedo and I will attempt to repair your weapon for a small fee.

I would like to add that the dev's should be very very careful with this one, alot of griefing could happen very easily via weapons being kept by the weaponsmith. I would suggest a message be sent in spatial telling exactly how the repair went. Just my .02...

Luvi: Master Weaponsmith: Master Architech: Master Artisan (semi-retired)

Iwen Cedo: Master holocron chaser......

I used to be able to use these kits with decent effectiveness... perhaps 60% of the time I'd get a good repair. Since the last couple of patches, this has become pathetic. Of the last six weapon repairs I've done, I've had five complete failures where the weapons fell apart, and one "success" where the conditions was raised backup to 775/775, but the damage numbers were reduced to 10% of their prior values. That was a kick in the pants. I'm using advanced pistols, and I thought I read were complexity of weapon played into the equations. Well, the DX2 is pretty complex, so I expect failures at a higher rate. These were all very good repair kits I was using. I have no artisan skills at all, but this never played a roll in the past.

One thing I will point out... The insanely high failure rates seemed to begin at the same time that I noticed a greatly increase detioration rate on all of my weapons. I'm thinking that perhaps this was a stealthy way of getting existing weapons out of circulation faster to give a boost to the economy. That's just a little conspiracy theory I've been playing with in the back of my mind... have no proof of it at all.

Anyway, these should be renamed to "Weapon Destruction Tools" as the current name is inaccurate and misleading.

cheers for that, I'm on Eclipse, so I'll have a chat to my friendly ws there, I haven't noticed a deterioration in power or similar yet, and its down to about 650 of 850 so maybe I'll leave it until it gets down to about 5 of 850 and do it then

Weapon Repair Kits work.

I repaired 5 pistols yesterday using kits ranging from 83% to 94%.

All of them were successful, and the worst one I got lowered a gun from 250/999 to 800/800. Most of them got the "you repaired the weapon with only minor blemishes" announcement, which only took about 50 points off the original maximum.

So my advice is to invest in a high-quality repair kit. Make sure you check the stats on a kit before buying, because some people are hawking 50-credit kits that only have a 13% effectiveness rating. You can bet that your odds of disintegrating your pistol go up with cheap kits like those.

I wish I had your success rate. Like I said earlier, I only use the best kits (90% or better), but it doesn't seem to help. I'm wondering if this is working differently on the different servers? There seemed to be a couple of people from the same servers having good results. Personally, most of the people I know on Valcyn are having a bad time with repairs lately as well.
