Thread: Help a master pistoleer find his way (long, sorry) please keep comments constructive,I am fragile
Brief background - I have played this game constantlysince launch. I spent all of my time levelling up my pistol skills until i finally reached master pistoleer. I complimented my pistol skills with a master in combat medic support and distance. (so that i could throw some good poisons and diseases on some PC enemies). I also keep scout skills for exploration 4. ( I can't stand being slow getting around, I'll keep the exploration until i can get a speeder bike or something). I have used all of my skill points, well excpet the 4 left that i use to sell apprentice points for hunting training.
A few weeks after attaining master pistoleer someone pointed out that I really should be using disarm 2 to really kick some butt. I hadn't used it because I was under the assumption that none of my skills or mods worked in my pistoleer class. I was sticking with stopping shot and stacked bleeds 1 and 2 as my bread and butter becuase i could drop 1700 damage (stopping shot)on enemies with my trusty scout blaster. Once I found the joy of disarm 2 I went straight to Rori and started soloing the stormtrooper camps with disarm2 ( boy did I love having a ranged knockdown, not to mention multiple targets! ) Ah, the joy, 5k a mission plus the 100 or so faction points per mission. There was some use to attaining master pistoleer, I felt my months of training had really paid off.
I would stop through theed on my way back to correlia, and would enjoy the excitement of being jumped by imps, becuase I was still a declared rebel (oops!, I forgot honest) . A disarm 2 here and there with a few stopping shots and these master marksman that would try and jump me would be licking there wounds in the cloning facility. If i got trounced by the AT-ST's waiting by the front of the starport, I got what i deserved for coming to theed declared.
Then, it happened....... a patch, a "fix", and now I'm left standing around starports and shuttle ports always covert, never declared, selling my medical resources wondering what happened to my short lived fun, and months of hard work. My visits to Rori are pathetic now, I try and try to kill these trooper camps, but I really don't stand a chance. I have noticed that others with pistoleer skills (definitely notmasters) are doing the missions, but they are doing them baz nitch style (well, old baz nitch style) They run up, and light the bases up with fan shots, get killed by the troopers, and take the cloning shuttle back to town. 5k, 60 or so faction points, and on to the next mission, hardly a challenge, but quite an insult to the pistoleers fine profession. Ah the shame....
Are there techniques I'm blindly missing? Is there away for me to get my faction points and drop these storm troopers? Am I really expected to chase a PC imp down and try my damnedest to pistol whip him? Hoping that will give me enough time to drop some bleeds or stopping shots on him? Am i doomed to face the cloning facility every time a couple novice marksmen come to corellia and catch me shopping the bazaar?
Someone please give me some hope here, as i cannot even begin to describe the joy I had found when I learned that disarm 2 was a move that people envied and my hard work of mastering pistoleer was worth something, and the horror I feltwhenreading the patch notes as I downloaded my professions demise.
- A master pistoleer with no use for new titles, I die just as quickly with any of them.
Thanks for any helpful responses -
p.s. - please don't give me numbers about skill points, stats on moves I don't use, ratio's of misses and dodges, and that kind of thing. I need techniques, combos, planets and missions.
My -bleed2, disarm2, bleed 1, stopping shot, heal, disarm2 stopping shot , fan shot, stopping shot, heal, etc. variances don't seem to effective anymore
I'm curious, can you solo a stormtrooper 1-1? I posted a thread, didn't get any response, about what people could actually do as a pistoleer. If a Master can't even defeat _a_ Stormtrooper, I have a serious problem with that.
I really haven't tried since they took my best skills away. I think I would be able to handle a stormtrooper one vs. one, but the problem is finding one by itself.
I was having a good time working on my rebel faction points fighting stormtrooper camps when I learned I had gotten a ranged knockdown shot by hitting master status. Now, i have left the rebel missions alone since my choices in missions are the cadets and civillians, which are rediculously easy, the imperial encampments which have AT-ST's guarding them, uhhhhhh c'mon really, who's doing these missions? , and the stormtroopers camps which have 3 troopers at each camp, these were fun and challenging, but have now become impossible (no i'm not a CH with a big meat shield ).
Since having my most enjoyable skills usefullness removed, I have found that my one skill that I have left that is any good, is my disarming shot 1 for it's double damage versus lairs. I know that this will not last long either as this is "not how the skill was intended", ( how many master pistoleers are sick of that line? ). heh But for now, this skill, is proving worthwhile for me to make a pretty penny on endor.
I do have to say, that for a little entertainment, I have been visting kaadara while declared. I have actually done quite well out there, as long as the groups against me didn't get too big. One or two I could do fairly well against, but more and I am in trouble. I think that my success was more reliant on my poisoning, and getting the drop on my opponents than any of my pistoleer moves in particular
-paitently waiting for the usefulness of the skills that come with master status-
Probably not what you want to hear... but be a CH with a big meat shield?
Hopefully, They'll fix Pistoleer skills so that they are more useful. But It'll be a big surprise to me if it happens anytime soon. If you're looking for good weapon skills I've heard good things about the BH, Smuggler's pistol line, and Commando lines.
When I was a wee pistol marksman/scout I looked at where my character was going. I had intended to do Ranger/Pistoleer, as I liked the idea of playing the roving hunter. At the time Ranger skills looked worthless, so i looked at what else I could do with my Scout skills. Creature Handling looked interesting, So I picked it up instead of ranger. I'm almost to Master Pistoleer/Master CH, and I must say they compliment each other nicely, even with the lackluster/broken pistol skills. I even had the points available to pick up a little medic. I factory produce my own Stim B's. I have grown quite attached to my pets and they are mighty handy to have at my back in a fight. I'm no PvP powerhouse, but I can hold my own.
Without stims you wont be able to deal with a Stormtrooper alone. Blame it on our crappy ham stats. Why we never got a raise of ham stats is beyond me..Sure we can buff some but not even high enough and spice is bad say's my mother and doctors who buffs for a decent price are rare..
I have run into similar problems and frustrations. We can't complete Level 25 missions any more, without a pet or a different weapon.
Against mobs I use warning shot, and if I do it right I can still solo some good stuff.
Against NPCs (like the faction missions), I've been using an FWG5 for bleeds and then switching to an LLC. And even then it often gets messy or I die.
It is sad that I'm running around using an LLC now, but until further notice the Devs have sent me the message that the pistol isn't a serious weapon any more.
I can take a ST alone now (but I have greater than +100 to pistol speed).. but only 1 they come in 3's
Hell blue conned imp troopers with a medic can kill me now.
I've since given up master pistoleer.. (whats the friggin use..) went and got novice medic.. wow simple 2 or 3 heals and i can take an imp camp. Not stormtroopers though
I'm sorry something is MAJORLY wrong with a game when I'm REQUIRED
I noticed that sometimes npc's guarding a lair dont' want to chase me. So I can bleed them. run away. and they just kind of stop, and eventually die.
Against critters, it's the old combo standby of warning shot (experimenting iwth a macro of peace immediately afterwards).
I suppose teh way to kamikaze lairs now is to do it against humanoid lairs, which can't be healed.
